As most people here, got a call from local number and some ding dong left a voicemail about HR employment verification if I don't call back right away. They are a scam. Not even going to call them back.

report these numbers to your local police as they are making the round trying to extort money from victims... imagine if they call an elderly person and they actually fall for it... ?

Left a message on my CI almost the same as above. Local number on CI  but same number to call to 877-818-8108.

I just called them and he asked for my phone number. I told him I'm not gonna give him my number because I looked online and this is a scam. He hung up on me. lol. I just wanted to let him know that the number they are giving out is all over the internet as a scam.

I got a call from macs today, telling me they were sending an email verification to my HR dept. If I call back this number they can help if not and the letter is sent it cannot be reversed. That it is in my best interest to call

They call house and cell as unknown leave a message to call MACS 877-818-8108 about mediator and failure to do so will result in sending to HR P/R Dept - today I answered and it was only a recording and I couldn't say anything to them they disconnected.  This has been going on for over a month.  I called my attorney and he told me this is a SCAM

I just receive a voicemail from the same idiot but called from a Hawaii number that belongs to Davko Investments, which is strange. But, he left the 877 #. He said the same thing on my message. These people are the scum of the earth.

HOW CAN WE FIND THEM AND TURN THEM SO THEY ALL GO TO JAIL. THEN, THEY CAN ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD TO WISH THEY WOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN SO DUMB AND DESPERATE TO DO SOMETHING SO DISGUSTING. They need to reap what they sow!!!

Calling people and pushing them to pay debts they don’t really owe?

Posing as law enforcement and fake government agencies like the “Federal Crime Unit of the Department of Justice”?

Threatening to sue or arrest people — or tell their family and employers about a debt?

Reciting people’s Social Security and bank account numbers to seem legit?

Yup, this fake debt collection scheme did it all, illegally collecting more than $5.2 million in fake payday loan debts. Today the FTC announced that under a settlement with the agency, defendant Kirit Patel and his company Broadway Global Master, which processed payments for the scheme, will be banned from the debt collection business, and money recovered will be used for refunds. Patel also has pleaded guilty to the real Department of Justice on charges of criminal mail and wire fraud.

So how can you tell if you’re being targeted by a fake debt collector? A caller may be a fake debt collector if:
•you don’t recognize the debt
•you can’t get a mailing address or phone number for the collector
•you’re asked for personal financial or sensitive information
•you’re threatened with arrest or told you’ll be reported to a law enforcement agency

You have rights when it comes to debt collection. Tell the caller that you won’t discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice," which has to include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

If the debt is legitimate — but you think the collector may not be — contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt. If it doesn’t check out, report the call to the FTC and your state Attorney General's office.

I been getting these calls late. The number is coming from Unregistered number 323-498-3411. But the message left asking me to call number 877-818-818. The company they're claiming calling from is M-A-C-S. The problem is theyre not calling my number, but my Moms looking for me. Thank God for this blog.

Had a message about a check protest claim and to call 877-818-8108 however the number that actually called my phone was 702-570-4553 when I try to go back to that number it says it is not in service because I won't call and talk to anybody at the other number. Scam scam scam

Called from an "unknown" number. Left this vague, scammy message for someone I don't know: "This message is for Ladonna Love This is the office of a MACS. this call is in regards to a possible check protest claim it is scheduled to be placed against your name and social security number if placed it could affect your current banking you may have please take this opportunity to fix the matter as once it is placed It cannot be retracted. Caller ID shows local # 702-206-1018 - but states #877-818-8108 as call back number.
Same as others have stated above - MACS looking to settle check claim. Stated they are contacting my HR department, but I can stop it if I call back immediately.

I have the same exact thing as others have reported. ***this is illegal*** this company cannot do any of the things they are threatening to do. You are protected under the FDCPA. MACS is violating federal law when they make their threats. This will only stop if we all file complaints with the CFPB and FTC. I have successfully turned 2 of these sleazy collections outfits over to an attorney in the Investigations division of the FTC. Look up this Mid Atlantic Consumer Services on the BBB website, 33 closed complaints in 3 months and the guy that responds to the complaints says the same thing each time- that MACS has closed the case and returned to creditor. The BBB can't actually stop these scum buckets but the FTC surely will. Go to the Federal Trade Commission website or the CFPB and report this company.

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

This number is a debt collection that refuses to stop calling me after two years of telling them not to

I got an automated call from this number 877-818-8108 suggesting some kind of legal claim against my checking account and social security number.  I believe it to be some kind of fraud.

I received a call from a San Diego number belonging to Mpower Communications. They left me a vm stating the they, along with three previous companies, have attempted to collect a debt from me with no resolution and now they would be pursuing the collection to the fullest extent of my state's laws. The return phone number was 877.818.8108. This is in fact the third time a company with this phone number has contacted me and the third time I've let them know that A) I am not the person they are referring to in their messages, B) I want to be removed from their calling list, C) I do not owe any debts and D) No, I will not provide my name and address so they can update their files. I also ask for the name of the company and the name of the person to whom I'm speaking and receive neither, though occasionally I get a generic agent name like "Mr. Brown," today. Usually I get Smith or Jones. Each time I ask questions I am met with anger and the "agent" telling me I can't hide forever and they'll find me. I usually respond with something like "Best of luck. In the mean time, please remove me from your call list." Normally they hang up, but this time I was called a nasty name first. I just keep blocking the calls from my phone but I am thinking of changing my number at this point.

Same as above. A "Laura Brown" left a message from ??? (Human service?) department a mid atlatic services about a complaint being filed against your ssn and bank account. Called from 877-818-8108 and wants a call back to 877-552-8683. I never called back. I have been getting these messages for a while. I wish they would stop.

Got a call from 877-818-8108 Laura Brown from Mid Atlantic looking for Attorney info from me ..They are calling my family members and friends have no idea how they are getting all these numbers and I have no idea what any of this is about sounds like a scam fishing for personal info.. being very leary!!!!
