    No, it's not legit.  The miserable little runt is a fraud. He perceives himself as a bad player. He's not. He works for a bigger, badder piece of [***] that can pay him pigeon droppings.
    He's nothing. He earns about $20 a week from his masters. To him , that's a lot of money. The Indian & Pakistani call center scrunts are nothing. They know what they're doing. They don't care. They are simply lice.
    This is life. Now. Ignore the stains.
    Live Well.

    I received a call today about a payday loan that I did not apply for. First of all they wanted me to identify my social security number and bank acct. Michael Levins is the person that I talked to. He wanted me to pay $510 today or I will have to pay $3100.23 in court. He would give me very little information. I was not going to identify myself with no information given. He said if I did not pay that I would be served and I need to have 2 forms of ID and a witness or I was not be served and I would be reported and a warrant will be issued for me. NO way this is far or legal.

    PCS legal called and gave me the 877-822-9492 to call and that is where I spoke with Michael Levins

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    •is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    •refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    •asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    •exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

    •Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
    •Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
    •Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
    •Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

    "Ninja" Shill,

    There is no way that you can spin these scammers (which obviously include yourself) into a good light, so stop trying.

    Today I received a call from a man named James Stevens he had left me a voice mail and said that he had legal papers that he need to deliver and that my scheduled time would be at 3PM and that I would need to have ID and a witness., He said that he had my home address and would try there first then he would try my place of employment and if he did not make contact with me that he would turn me in as non compliant. and if I had any questions I should call 877-822-9492. Well that got my attention.. I called the number and was asking questions.. I gave them very little information and demanded to know who I was being sued by.. They told me the name of the company and I had to research to get their phone, I then called them and they verified that it was a scam and the man directed me to call the police and attorney generals office. I then called the company back and talked to Michael Levins and he said that I had to talk to another department so he then transferred me and I told the man that I felt he was scamming me and that I would be calling the police. He got very rude and then hung up on me.. Well I rushed home to be home before 3 PM and I called the police and they took a statement then validated that the phone number and company were bogus and that I was being scammed. I have NO payday loans and never have.. Not to mention that the man who called me was calling me by my previous name which I have not used in over 10 years. I take care of my responsibilities..

    I had a missed call and a voicemail from an unknown caller. The voicemail said it was Dean Stevenson and he had legal documents to deliver and he would be at my house at 3pm. Also, said I needed to have two forms of ID and a witness. He left a case number, but no court information for me to verify with. I immediately started researching and found this. So, thank you to those who have posted your experiences. Also, thank you to those who posted what to do next. I will be reporting this to the FTC and attorney general's office.

    I got a payday loan a few years ago that I never paid back in full and thats what they're probably calling you about, too. If you've ever borrowed money and didnt pay it back, somehow these people calling from this 877-822-9492. I actually had a lady call me this morning and each time she calls, she blocks her number and leaves this 877 number to call her back on. She's always threatening me that I will serve jail time and be ordered by the court to pay back thousands of dollars and basically just tries to scare me. She even went as far as calling me on my house phone in which I have NEVER given anyone my house number so they dig deep just to try and scam you and get you to pay them hundreds and thousands of dollars over the phone in which I PROMISE you, it will NOT go towards your loan. Just block this number or change your number.

    This was a message that popped up on my computer when I was closing out my news site.  Told me to call this number as someone was using my computer to get into our bank accounts, etc. Said it was Windows and it is urgent.  We have also been getting a lot of calls from India telling us we desperately need to let them repair our slow computer.  We are getting tired of all of these crooks chasing after us.  The above phone number was on their note for us to immediately call them.  Of course, we didn't call them and just looked up the number and checked out this site.

    Same thing just happened to me. It did not look legitimate so here I am. It's bad enough that they call on the phone but now they are trying to hijack our computers.

    We have had another popup today telling me not to shut down computer as bank accounts, etc. are going to be stolen, but to call this number that I wrote about on the 7th. Since my first URGENT popup, we have received another one claiming they are Microsoft Certified Live Technicians though Windows and Internet explorer.  That number to call is 888- 976-4309.  Once again, told us not to shut down, but call them immediately.  Of course, we shut down.  This was a message from a webpage, Lucianne.com.  This is what it has popped up from, now on 3 occasions over the past few days.  We had another one yesterday and I have the number written down that we are to call, but have not located that number.  At any rate, there have been 3 phone numbers to respond to the same lousy popup.
