- Roger| 4 repliesI received an SMS text message on my cell phone: "SMS.Alert@visa.com / VISA. Call us at 1-877-826-7833 regarding this SMS Alert (Notification). Thank you./" I blocked my Caller ID and dialed the number, but received a recording saying the subscriber was not available . . .
- Caller: Unknown
- MatthewI have the exact same thing... only difference is my callback was busy.
- RDMJust received the same SMS message as Roger above at 5:09pm CDT on my cell phone.
- billyi got a text also recording asked me for credit card number expiration date and pin seems like a scam all they need to use your card is what they ask for.
- helpful replies to Rogerthis is a ghana scam... I received one last week from the same number stating usaa visa i called them and they said it was a scam an to report to their abuse email to be forward to the fbi
- hmmJust recieved the same text and i ALSO recieved it 2 days ago.
- Drifter| 2 repliesI just received this text as well, the second such text in only 4 days.
It states exactly the same message as Roger above. It's from "3597" and was received on my T-Mobile service. - SueReceived the same msg as Roger just a few minutes ago 7/14/09 19:24 CDT on T-Mobile
("SMS.Alert@visa.com / VISA. Call us at 1-877-826-7833 regarding this SMS Alert (Notification). Thank you.") . - Darren replies to RogerSame exact message as below. Called back but was busy.
- AndreSMS.Alert@visa.com. Call us at 1-877-826-7833 etc..... This is a scam. Called the number, automated answer prompts you to enter your card number, expiration date and pin number and than tells you that they don't recognize the account.
Went through the process with phony numbers in hope to get a real person.
Obviously no one comes on the line, would have loved to give them a piece of my mind. - JamesGot the same msg on my t-mobile too from 3665. called from house phone and got the same msg. asking for cc number... hung up!
- golden replies to RogerYou should know that tollfree numbers like 877 can see your number even if you have caller ID blocking. just a friendly PSA from your friendly neighborhood hacker.
- AndrewWell, I was dumb enough to fall for it. So, I called the security department of my bank to get my card deactivated.
- LisaI called the number back - it was offering something as a getaway through Visa. When I dialed the number it said that the call could not be completed. Why is that? I'm guessing it was because I called from a number not connected to the Visa credit card. What a scam!
- GeorgeI rec'd the text last night... Is it me, or does it seem to be an event primarily on T-mobile's service. Obviously, the recording is NOT from Visa and you should IGNORE the message. Ima research with some people in my banks fraud department and also give T-Mobile a piece of my mind.
- Caller: Citizens Bank Company
- janierazMy husband received a text this morning on this also I called the number and was told out of service.
- Laurie| 1 replyIt's not just T-mobile. I got it on my AT&T cell phone last evening. Since my VISA account through a Federal Credit Union was hijacked a few months ago and a new card issued, I'm reluctant to use ANY Visa account. For now, I'm a MasterCard user, though I recognize that every company is vulnerable.
- Caller: MS.Alert@visa.com
- Hadid57I actually received 2 text messages, one right after the other on 07/14/2009. Same message, "SMS Alert from visa". I did a reverse number lookup and it is not readily identified as any Visa bank. I then decided to report it to the FCC at http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm. I am hopefull the more people complain to FCC greater chances are someone will be caught...
- Call type: Unwanted
- PyroI received the same text. On Friday the text said it was an SMS Alert from Mastercard. I didn't call back. Tuesday night I received the same text, but this time it said it was a SMS Alert from Visa. I don't even have a VISA. Obviously a scam
- Caller: SNS.Alert@visa.com/VISA
- Call type: Valid
- MOBOn July 14, I received the same SMS text alert reported below, claiming to be from Visa. I was suspicious immediately as I had never had a communication via SMS from any of my cards, and because the Visa account was not identified. I checked here and am glad I did.
