If you call back the 855 number they give you it will probably say leave message, message full..... press 0 and it will connect you. They claim to be this GAFS collection place but can't tell you what GAFS stands for. If you ask if they need Christmas money they get pissed.

John Lewis called did not answer but it’s the second one today first on was a mark wallace

I received a call from this number; left a message. The first part was cut off, a gruff and indistinct voice said he was looking for someone I had never heard of, and that I should call with their whereabouts. Clearly this is some kind of scam, and anyway I had never heard of the person they said they were looking for—Jennifer somebody (garbled). Best is to ignore all calls from this number.

Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.

If they are bothering you, report them:

Note that the US Supreme Court in the Case of HENSON ET AL. v. SANTANDER CONSUMER USA INC., has recently ruled that the provisions of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act do not apply if the creditor owns the debt in question.  As a practical matter this probably won't effect the kinds of scam debt collectors who often show up on 800notes.  The scam collectors don't give you any information about themselves so it is impossible to know whether or not they in fact "own" the debt in question.  Most do not send debt validation letters and many often say they are collecting for someone else.  So, make the complaint anyway if they are bothering you.  Let the FTC sort it out.

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.  Tell 'em  no scammy debt collector is going to push you around.

You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking).   the only thing they understand.

Report caller . keeps calling my # ?

I got the same call and they’ve called about 10 people in my family.

Good old deep voiced John Lewis called me yesterday and left a voice mail. I couldn’t make out who he was looking for but he threatened me with “the authorities”. I’m shaking in my shoes waiting for “the authorities” to come. Thank God for my call blocker!!

Received a call on my house and cell phone from a John Lewis. He was looking for Aliea Lewis. This was in an automated vice. He threatened to call authorities if I didn’t call back  855-303-5660. When I called it went around in circles.

Called about my Boyfriends Father saying to let them know about his whereabouts or the next steps for arrest will be taken. Take him away! They haven't spoken in over 5 years. Lol

They have called my phone, my parents phone and my fiances phone numerous times telling me that there's a report filed against me and if they know about my whereabouts to call them back. Hard to tell if it was a robot due to it being hard to hear at some points in the message.

Got the same exact message just 10 min ago...John Lewis calling about a formal complaint against my ex-husband (knew his name) and wanted me to call him back at 877-826-9760 if I knew where my ex was.

Asking for my ex-husband's location call back if I know where he is or he will call the authorities - I did not call him back figured it was a scam.
