Received a call claiming a complaint was filed and they needed to verify social security number. However they refused to provide the nature of complaint, who they were, name of company or from which state they were calling. The person was very abrasive and stated that the conversation was being recorded and since I would not confirm my social security number that I was not cooperating and he abruptly hung up.

The next time they call, turn the tables and let them know you are recording THEM. It works both ways. See how fast they hang up.

Got a call from 877-852-7174 and a Mr. Abbott stating he needed me to contact him to get a statement from me..... I called the number and got a voice mail from a Mr. Emerson Abbott.... Scam I think so....???

Got a call last night from "Mr. Abbott" that was on recorder.  His tone was exceedingly gruff, and he said to call him back immediately.  I called the number, and some woman answered who said that she was his supervisor.  Typical Good Cop/Bad Cop routine.  She asked if he had been rude, and said that she would talk to him about it, and apologized profusely.  They were looking for my brother, and when I told her (truthfully) that he died two years ago, she quickly hung up.  Obviously debt collector trying to revive some Zombie debt of my brothers.  Scum of the earth.

I received a message from Mr Abbott almost demanding I return his call. Said he needed a recording from me. Thanks to these comments on this site, I will not be calling him back. I do not return calls when I do not know what someone is talking about.
