This person from unknown number has left messages at my place of business voicemail.  The person states that an order has come to her desk about bad checks that I have written.  She does not identify the name of her company.  She only states that I can call the "plaintiff" to work things out at 877-859-9778.  This is a scam that has been going around.  Companies are not allowed to make threats that they do not intend to take.  I have received nothing in the mail about bad checks and I do not intend to respond to these bogus calls.  They can keep calling until the cows come home.  Fact is they have to send supporting paperwork via US Mail.

This company called Sante Fey Managment keeps calling myself and people related to me regarding writing bad checks.  This looks like a scam as I have not bounced any checks and there is no such place as Sante Fe management listed as debt collector with the bbb.

Please people be careful.  Never, ever give these places any information over the phone.  Even if you beleive you owe the debt, by law they have to provide proof in writing.  Tell them to send it in writing.

Nobody will call and warn you that they are serving you.  That is a red flag right there.  I guarantee that you have not been served.

Never Ever!!!!! respond to these people or anyone else unless you have a validation in writing of the debt.  I got  a call from this number stating that they were Sante Fe Mgmt and I that I have a bad check written (mind You) on a Bank I have never had an account at. They are calling all the people I know.  I think they may have gotten into Facebook or my e-mail.  About a year 1/2 ago I went online and got scammed for over $1000 on a loan scam.  Don't give anyone your hard earned money without knowing who you are dealing with first. What I hate is that they also make you feel like your world is about to crash in on you. Take responsibility for your part and demand it in writing!!!

Thanks for your post Annonymous.  These phone calls can seem very scary to someone who is not aware of their rights under the fair debt collection act.   They are getting the information from people who have ever applied for or had an online payday loan.  They try to tell you that you will be sued unless you give them your debit or credit card over the phone.  Please do not fall for their lies.  They have five days within initial contact to provide you with proof of the debt in writing.  If they cannot do this, than they have no grounds to collect on the debt.  They also have to have a license to collect debts in your state.

Please be aware of your rights before responding to these scammers.

    Annonomous, but harrassed anyway!
Received a call from "Unknown Number" at my home looking for someone with my same last name. Since it was from an "Unknown Number", I did't answer, but they left a message using a lot of personal and private information about the person they were trying to reach (so NOT alright!!!) I don't appreciate them calling my number "phishing"! They used the same line almost verbatim as the call Cecil F. received. I feel sorry for this person they are searching for....I bet I am not the only one this company has contacted looking for this person. I called the # they left on the voicemail and told them to NEVER call my # again. The person on the other end said, "Is this so-and so?" using MY  name!!!!!! Can you believe it????

Got a call from this place about "bad checks" I had written almost two years ago.  I returned the call and was told that it had to do with a payday loan that I had gotten and wanted me to set up an out of court settlement for almost $500.00.

I pulled the district court records.  No case has been filed against me, therefore no Summons has been issued.

Not sure what's going on here but I will not be setting up any type of payment arrangement on a non-existent debt.

I got a call from this number as well from a woman stating that she received a fax with information that I was trying to "defraud a financial institution".  The woman told me that there was a summons against me and that they want to "settle" out of court.  I called the number and all I keep getting is the voicemail.

So, all beware this is a scam.  I did look up the company there is no such company by the name of Santa Fe Management Company and I also looked up the court records and there has been nothing filed against me.

Again, to all, this nothing more then a scam.

Also provided number of 877-816-0571. Same story as everyone else. Told me they "had an agent in the field currently trying to serve me" and the only way I could settle this out of court is to make a payment today. That right there should warn anyone that this is not legit. If they have a legitimate claim then they should be able to validate the debt by providing paperwork that substantiates it and they would also be willing to take payment by a money order through the mail. DO NOT EVER GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR BANK ACCOUNT OR DEBIT CARD INFORMATION. They will rip you off.

well i got a call from an unknown number as well, they left me a message saying that they were gonna serve me with papers and that i was trying to defraud a financial istitution and that i have two cases or charges pending. one of writting a bad check and the other for breach of contract and that under texas law writting a bad check is a felony. so i called the number scared. I asked ok so if i want to make a payment where would i mail it to and they refused to give me their address they stated the only way to settle this matter would be by paying the full amount over the phone, which seemed fishy to me since i never received anything in writting before from this company and come on now-a-days no website to make payment? the agent i spoke to was really rude, and yes they are right i do owe a loan company but was unable to pay because right after i took that payday loan hours started slowing at work so i kept renewing the loan until i lost my job and was unable to pay. what i did is i called the loan company who told me my debt was sent to collections. i got sent to the collections department who told me that they no longer have my debt that they sent it to debt collectors so i asked for the company name of the debt collector and i was told that the name of the agency was west recovery management. the people that called me were santa fe management. i asked the lady from santa fe management i needed something in writting and she asked for my address. i gave my email address instead, and they did send me something but it was like a pdf file and it had my name the account number and the amount of the debt (seriously information that any one can get from my credit report) but there was no info on the company other than the name. i mean i have defaulted on a school loan but like they send me things in writting and it has their address and something like that i did pay and set up an arrangement. i dont know what to think. i called the west recovery place but never got a call back..what i want to know is do i really need to pay santa fe, and how did they get my information.

Dont DO IT replies to pinkt105
What state are you in???? In TX they have to have a surety bond to even collect on a debt and they do not have one, the are in violation of many and i do mean many collection laws. Do not give them your information they will take you to the cleaners, basically the place that you had the payday loan through sold your debt and then satan fe management bought it and are trying to collect on their debt not the previous debt they will not take you to court they will threaten you til they are blue in the face. They will probably shut down for many violations eventually but please dont let them scare you they wont take you to court...they are in buffalo new york!!

I was contacted today at my place of business. AMY SMITH called and said she was an independent collector and had received my case. She wanted me to call Santa Fe Mgmt and take care of my "CLAIM" before she is forced to SERVE me!!!!  I asked her repeatly to give me her location or phone number so I could call her back to get verification...NOTHING. She would not give me any information other then SantaFe Mgmt and a claim number. I then asked her what address she would use to serve me. The address she had was over 2 years old. I then asked her the city in which she was located. She tried to say the same town I live in but TOTALLY messed up the pronounciation. That is when I told her serve me whatever you want. I told the girls here at work if anyone from an unknown number calls me at work.....I'm no longer employeed here!!!!!! hahahaha

    GOOD JOB replies to SLM70
Do not give them any information they are illegally trying to collect on debt, they are out of New York and they will not serve you anything. Google them there is nothing but bad things about them. Tell them you will only accept everything in writing, but they will not mail it to you they lie, they say they can only email you something as long as you commit to paying them back. That is illegal. Do not fall for their scare tactics.
