Just got a call at work stating I will be serve at work for  a debt. No name of company, amount owed. Just a phone number and reference number. I told him not to call me at work. Sounds like a scam. Probably  need to call Sheriff's office to verify if I will be served today. Tired of the games. No Bill have been received in the mail.

I received a voice message advising me that I was set to be served legal papers at my known place of work on Friday between 3-4 and that I could call this number to speak with the originating company to reschedule or possibly resolve the matter. I decided I'd check out the number. When I called, it rang several times, redirected, rang several more times, then gave me some guy's voice mail. His greeting provided only his name. There was no reference to the company for which he works. I've received no bills or notices in the mail so I have no idea who this guy is supposed to represent.
This call is suspect. You are not provided with notification if you are going to be served. Process servers and the sheriff's department don't work that way. In addition, I contacted both the court and the sheriff's department concerning this. Neither have a record of anything filed against me. I also checked into this on the FTC site and found that these types of calls are generally scams.
I believe this is a scam, and these people are attempting to scare me into sending them money to avoid being "served".
