Got a "Personal and Confidential" letter, not certified, Friday from Clarksen & Associates in Orange, CA. It looks official, says all the right things, cites the creditor as a bank I did have an account with, the whole nine. BUT - I can't find these people online anywhere. There IS a legit law firm, ClarkSON & Associates, with offices in Utah and Nevada. I believe it's another scamacious attempt. I supposedly owe the bank $400.31 and I am demanded to pay in full no later than ten (10) days from the date of the notice....er, that would be today (or call and make payment arrangements, of course). They haven't called me - they didn't know my number, but my address has recently changed. THEIR call back number is 877 861-2821. I bit - and it sent me to voicemail. The letter was dated 12/16 - got to me on 12/23 (Friday)...it's the holiday, sooooo... The person who signed the letter is a Wilmer Bennett - benign enough name. Anyway, I'm investigating further, like - talking to the actual bank (because I do believe I'm clear with them). At the same time, some other scamacious activities have caused my credit report to be smudged by the scam organization calling themselves Midwest Recovery. I'm disputing them. *heavy sigh* And it don't stop...

Haha - why, thank you! I tend to like that word myself. So, an update on these people. Google maps, earth, etc., rewarded me with the actual location of these phonies. I knew I'd find some type of shopping mall situation - but what they failed to cover, was their cover. Their fake letterhead gives an address of 1439 W. Chapman Avenue, #148, in Orange, California. However, according to the map and street views (of which I was able to get a number of zoom-in shots and angles) - THERE IS NO #148 in the complex!! Each storefront has its own address in this complex. So - bottom line - 1437 W. Chapman is the Orange Cleaners, and 1439 W. Chapman is none other than, the UPS Store!!! There are no subdivision units for that address! BUSTED! I have to admit I used to hate the fact that google earth existed - it weirded me out to see my house and cars from the sky like that. But today, I'm thankful.  Oh, I also called the bank I owed - we're good. Like I thought.

More, regarding the above - Clarksen & Associates. I called The UPS Store and found that, of course, they sell post office boxes, and yes, #148 would be one of them (IS one of them, let me be clear.). I told the young man who answered the phone that one of their PO box customers is running a scam, just for his information. Meanwhile, the scammer returned my call from Friday, I let it go to voicemail. He sounded very laid back, didn't give his name - just stated that, yeah, I just need to return his call and make payment arrangements on that $400.31. His direct number is 714 882-1188. I won't be returning his call. And should I feel like answering if/when he calls again, I'll let him know that I have no intention of paying a debt that I've already paid, nor am I interested in helping him pay his PO box rent.

I just got a call from these people too.. They have been "trying" to get me for like 2 months.  I monitor my credit report very closely and know I don't owe anyone (except my credit card companies that I use) money.  I hate people like this that think they can just scam hard working people out of their money..
