just got the same call very nice polite man from a debt collection agency looking for someone from 20 years ago

No idea why these people are calling ME looking for my daughter! All the caller gave me was his name "Scott Walton" and his direct extension 14901 saying this was "an important business matter". Calling my home and now cell number looking for her! I did not give him her information and hung up. I then informed her about the call, she googled the number and got this site...I hate scams! SCAM!

Unreal right? I get the same thing at my home and now my cell! They usually just hang up but I decided to answer my cell to see who this "unknown" caller was. What a scam!

EEOC also has an 800-896-4539  If you look at the incoming call it says 800-service

I've had 2 messages from this number.  Man says his name is Kevin Graham or Grimm from EOCCA and that I need to call back.  The "eocca" is garbled but I finally made it out after listening several times. I have no debt that so I suspect they're looking for someone else.  Do I call back or just keep ignoring them?

Got this call tonight.  Here's the vm transcript:

You have a new Voice mail message from: Unknown.

"Hello my name is Susan Franklin this is an important call. I'm attempting to locate ????. If you can assist me in providing location information for Michael. Please call me at 8778639438 extension one four eight nine three. Again the phone number is 87786394 extension one four eight nine three."

No one ever by that name here.  Caller ID was Unavailable / Private Number.

I received a voicemail on my work phone, from a Chris ........... he says his last name so fast and under his breath that you have no way of hearing it!! He cannot even pronounce my first and last name properly, he goes on to say: "Please do me the favor and call me back on my direct number 877 863 9438 my extension number is 15026.
I googled the number and hear I am!! Did not bother calling back, and have advised the front desk not to bother with them if they call again. It is TAX season, so Fraud is always on the rise during this time.

You people should actually  call this company back.
They are actually not a scam and just need to verify your info to ensure it is the correct person.
The accounts are not purchased by EOS CCA either. Just pick up and talk to them if they are looking for you. Helped me out.

Scammers love it when you call them back. Sites like this make it tough to trick people on the phone don't they?

As far as I can tell they seem legit.  They are going after Student Loans.  At least in my wife's case. They have the correct account info and balances.  Time will tell.

Stop calling

It is a collection agency, simply said.  They are looking for people who owe them money or people who they think owe them money.  The buy up old debt from companies at pennies on the dollar and then they harass the people on the list until they get money from them.  The debts that they buy are already written off by the original lenders, who have already written off the debt amount.  If you pay the debt you will still have the black mark of a "write off" in your credit file for 7 years no matter.  After 7 it all gets erased anyway.

Just block the number.

Do not give any confirmation or denial of any information you asked for over the phone, ever.  No legit company would ask it like that anyway.

They got your phone number through data bases that they can now use to create links to people associated with the target person.  There are many of the services available online for a small charge.  That is what they use.  Look yourself up and see...   Google.

Ever see the ads for "make money online, from home"?  Well that is who they hire to act as debt collectors.  So you figure.

This caller left a message saying that they were looking for someone with the same last name as my maiden name but different first name. Never heard of this caller or the company. Don't owe any money so I have no idea who this is.

its called phishing they want more data to collaborate there current data skip tracers and such will fish for more info simple as that its a SCAM

I have been getting a call at work lately from a blocked call. I'd never answer the phone(my manager would) and he would ask for a message or ask who was calling. The person would say James like he was my friend. He would always say he would "call back tomorrow." Then he kept calling my cell phone. I have no idea how he got any of my numbers. I called, and the answering machine just saying "It's James.  Leaving me a message. Thanks." No business would have that type of voicemail. He claims to be a debt collector. He asks for your social security number and birthday and whatnot. Scam.

Called my place of work and talked to my manager. Asked my manager for my cellphone number but my company doesn't give out personal information. He said his name was Donald Griffin. You know my work times, and work phone number, but you don't know my cellphone number.
