Call ID says TELEMARKETER when they call

Message only for me. Asked for anyone else to hang up.  The call was private and of personal nature.   Something about outstanding debt (that I know I don't have).  Called back and got a voice mail for James Barry or Jerry Howsner.  States on the recording that they are a collection agency.

Alliance One collecting for a gas bill. Utility companies are reclassifying past due amounts to "uncollectible" sooner; so they do not appear as a loss on their books. I actually never stopped making payments on the amount due. It just isn't fast enough for them.

Fast forward to February 11, 2015.
When I arrived home from work I found the number in question on my caller ID.  The name on caller ID was
"Toll Free Caller".  I don't have an answering machine so the caller couldn't leave a message.

When will these collection agencies learn people will NOT do business with them over a phone.  If they want to discuss a person owing an outstanding debt they need to communicate by mail. (which they refuse to do)

They left a message obviously a recorded one not saying who they're are calling for just that it's important to call a number that's not the same that they're calling from and to ask for Burton. Not every time do they leave messages. And it's a daily thing.
