    This is NOT a scam.
For you, perhaps not...but for others, it might very well be a scammer spoofing this number and pretending to be from Citibank.  Its not really important if the number is legitimate or not, as much as it is knowing if a scammer is calling. People who get a legitimate call don't generally look up the number to find out what they already know, let alone post all about the details of why it was a legitimate call. Those people don't need to be reassured of the legitimacy of their caller, do they?

Unpublished Bank numbers are even more suspicious of being a scammer, so its always best to advise everyone to call back using an Official number, to ensure its really Citibank your talking to.
Never trust a caller to be who they claim, always call from an official number to verify if they did call.

Received a letter purportedly from citibank asking me to call this number.   I did on a Saturday and a recording said nobody was in - to call back later :-)

Well in pretty much all cases banks do not fully operate on a Saturday or Sunday.  However you should always call a bank back on their known, published phone number such as the one on the back of the card, on the statement, or on their official website.

Said they were my bank, which they knew my bank. Left a "referral number" with a phone number. They asked the last four of my social to verify my identity.  Immediately didn't feel good about that and said so. Called my bank there are no problems with my account. Scam

Said they were Citibank calling to ask if I had received a letter from them concerning my account. I replied that I had not. They then informed me that I should receive the letter and then when I did I should call the number in the letter to find out what the issue was about. This was about two weeks ago and I still have not received any letter from Citibank. They did not ask for nor did I give them any personal information. However they did have information about me I.e. The fact that I have a family trust.

I suggest you contact CitiBank using the number from their website.  It is highly unlikely that the REAL bank would hold off contacting you about a problem two weeks after the fact.

Claimed to be non-sales call, from citibank, following up on a  letter or email. He even provided a reference id number..... That said, the guy appears to know the name associated with the phone number. I think this is just a well informed scammer. with so many negative messages, a legitimate citibank would not have kept using this number ......

Had a similar call from Citibank as Janet (July 2, 2021) wrote about. Claiming to be 'David' calling from the KYC unit at Citibank (a real thing) regarding an account that was apparently opened at the Howell Ave branch (I don't live in the boroughs).  Thing is, I don't bank at Citibank, so when 'David' began telling me to call back using the phone # 'on the back of my card' (which I don't possess) along with a supplied 'Kiwi case ID#KYC2105262xxxxx', I knew something was off.  I came here and it seems I'm not the only one.  Also, I subscribe to an ID protection service.  Any bank accounts opened in my name are flagged with an alert as suspicious.  Needless to say: no alert (and no letter).

Got calls a few times from this phone number, need my personal info such as family total asset. I and my wife felt very uncomfortable in talkin go them. The callers then said they would send me email with a secured file, and we can provide the into through that. I did receive a follow-up email. I then called Citi by their official number, and confirmed that they never sent me such emails. It is a SCAM!
