Received a call but did not pick up. A male with an Indian accent left a voicemail. He said he is from Sterling, 3rd party background screening company, to verify employment for Giuseppe Calabrese. He gave the callback number of (877) 893-6130 and provided a reference number.

I do not own any company and never have. I also am a stay at home mom so unemployed by our society's standards.

Came up as a "toll free" claiming to want to verify someone's employment but would not tell me for who and could not name an individual listed as a contact.  Demanded to speak to an HR representative even though my office doesn't have one. The call was loud, scratchy and the person had a difficult Indian accent.

Foreign accent almost impossible to understand.  One of these calls I thought I could hear the wind in the background so that was suspicious...definitely not an office. I forwarded to office manager's vm.   I have had three such calls in the last week....

Posted in July about 703-466-4769, another Sterling number, whose reps want to send training invitations as well as request employment verifications.  Unsure just how legit they really are.

Caller ID showed TOLL FREE CALL.  The front desk isn't allowed to provide staff data or to transfer employment verifications to HR.  We can only give procedural instructions, so Sterling can take it or leave it.

Same fraund - thought my ex-female employee was male - total Scam to get identify information

This number is certainly a scam. The voice on my voicemail sounded automated, like Siri, and both voicemails they left me were identical. Asking for employment verification for someone I’ve never heard of. Sterlings real 800 number is a different number too. Blocking this number.

scammers posing as employment verification firm - they are not legit - they are phishing to get personal identifying information for identity theft or some other criminal activity - don't give them any information -

Man withOUT accent (for a change) wanted instructions for employment verification.  Professional, stated he was from Sterling.  Had no problems.

Supposedly Sterling is doing a pre-employment check on me. I answered the phone and the person on the other end hung up. No VM, nothing.

Sent me an email stating that a 400 dollar apple watch was purchased with my paypal.  lol, i dont even have a paypal. The person on the phone wanted me to enter some numbers into my google search bar. yeah, i don't think so. SCAM!!!!

I've confirmed with the real sterlingcheck.com that this number is a scam, do not provide them with any information.
