Been receiving harassing calls from someone stating they are going to serve me official paperwork at my home and place of employment. They have even called my sister and mother in law! They say there is some charges filed against me and that I need to call a Ry Philips at 877-904-1728. So how come I haven't received anything "official" in the mail? Isn't there something called certified mail for legitimate businesses? And I thought it was illegal to leave certain information with 3rd parties called, that are not the individual that the so-called claim is involving. Who are these people? I am hesistant to call because I was already scammed last year by someone like this, then after I paid, I never received any official paperwork as promised, nor any receipt.

This isn't the only phone number with your kind of complaint.  There are definitely laws  in regards.  If you read some of the other threads here, they also give you links and steps to take. In most cases, these shady outfits are making illegal claims and the nasty threats are also illegal.  Do read up on your rights, federal and state, your states statue of limitations, file reports with the FTC, FCC, FBI, and your State attorney general as well.

I just got the same call as Washington.  I advised the person calling that i was not sharing information and wished him luck with his scam.  He called back and left a message stating that charges have been brought against me and documentation would be delivered to my home and work addresses.  The person ended the call by stating this was my last chance and i had been formerly advised.

The number he left for me to contact was 877-904-1728 and gave me a claim number 216-XXX.

I have received these type of calls in the past, but this is the first time that the scammer had an American accent.

Tamianth is right.  Any formal legal proceedings would be mailed or hand delivered.  Until I receive one of those it is not worth the worry.

I received a call from the 877-904-1728 gentlemans name he gave me was Dwight an that he needed to get in contact w my son Steven.  I advised him i have no contact w him nor do i have a way to get in contact w him.  He stated he needed a updated address to send a very important information to get to him to have Steve call him back using a File # 217-***...

I have been receiving phone calls from 877-904-1728 from a Kathy Newman.  She has my home and cell number.  She states that she has been trying to contact my mother regarding a claim and that she needs to contact their firm. If she does not then legal actions will be taken. She also indicated that she has contacted my mothers human resource office and they have been trying to contact her as well.  So, I asked her, Why haven't you called her personally.  She responded that my mother would not answer her calls or return their messages. So, I asked her why are you calling me? She stated that my mother left me as a reference.  The latest message says that she has her address and she will be served with court documents.  If she doesn't not responded to the "Final Notice" then she will be marked as failure to appear.  So, here's my questions, if they know her phone number, have her address, and know her place of employment then why have they served her.  In the phone message she also stated that the was a "Formal Notice".  Since when did a phone call to a third party person become a formal notice of serving legal documents?  You have to do that sruff in person or through certified mail! These people are crazy. After speaking with my mother she has informed me that she knows nothing of the matter and that these people are crazy!

When I called them back the voice mail states "Thank you for calling Allied... Press 0 to speak with Bob later".  When you press 0 they take you to an automated voice mail system and tell you to leave a message.  They people are frauds and not even good ones.  Real law firms don't have voice mail set ups like that.
