- Fed Up| 4 repliesThis is yet another number that EOCCA uses to dupe people into answering the phone. I don't have an answering machine on my land line. They ringed in, I ignored it because it came from "Toll Free Caller", it rang five times and stopped. I haven't had many calls from them in a little while. I look for them to start another 'round'.
EOCCA is a collection agency that professes to collect student loans for the gov. They use very deceptive means to try to collect money regardless of whether you have had a student loan or not. DON"T FALL FOR THEIR BULL SCAT SCAM!!!! Simply IGNORE THEM!!! Do NOT answer the phone. Do NOT call them back. Just block that number if you have the ability to do so. They will NOT stop no matter what you do!!! They SHOULD be illegal!!!- Caller: EOCCA
- Call type: Debt collector

- Student Borrower replies to Fed Up| 1 replyThis number is legit. Got it straight from the horse's mouth, the United States Department of Education, Debt Collection. They told us our case was assigned to these people for collection, due to default, when we called them to try to resolve. They told us they are no longer handling our case, and to contact these people. So EOC does profess to collect student loans for the government because they do; that is their job. Too many people are not paying their loans. Some for legit reasons, some not. But they obviously have too many too handle, so they have to get help from somewhere to try and collect.
- Student Borrower replies to Randi Rosen| 1 replyThey got mine info from the United States Department of Education. I contact the USDE and they told me that they assigned my case to them, so that's how they got my info, from the government. If you owe somebody money, and they assign your case to these people to collect, that is how they collect their money. They are doing their job. The FBI is part of the government, and it was a government entity, the United States Department of Education that assigned them to collect for student loan debts, so there is no need to report them to the FBI, as they are collecting debts, like they have been assigned to do.
- Student Borrower replies to un-amused| 3 repliesThe people have been assigned by the U.S. Dept of Education to collect for debts. I called them myself regarding my school loan and they told me this. Whatever information the government had on the borrower, that info will be transferred when they assign your case to these people to collect. Since U.S. Dept of Education is government, they have all ways and means to get info from a borrower for the purpose of collecting a debt. Any information anyone has is never secret from the government.
- Fed up with the calls| 2 repliesI get calls 2-4 times aday. I don't have any student loans and neither does my husband. I don't answer the phone because I have caller ID. We don't have any unpaid debt so I wish they would stop calling.

This is a bogus company, I called the National Dept. of Education and they told me don't send info over to this company.

- FYI replies to Student BorrowerUnder the FDCPA, a debt collector is someone who regularly collects debts owed to others. This includes collection agencies, lawyers who collect debts on a regular basis, and companies that buy delinquent debts and then try to collect them.
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation’s consumer protection agency, enforces the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), which prohibits debt collectors from using abusive, unfair, or deceptive practices to collect from you.
You are in violation of this since you work with this sleeze. Repeated unwanted phone calls are not part of the legal collection system- The Federal Law:
Every collector must send you a written “validation notice” telling you how much money you owe within five days after they first contact you. This notice also must include the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money, and how to proceed if you don’t think you owe the money.
I would love to see you in court!!! Have ever heard of the FDCPA? It also prohibits you from advertising your company on Blogs! - Not falling for the scam replies to Student BorrowerIf they're so legitimate, why are they being investigated by the federal government for false debts and false credit reports? Back to work liar!!
