Checked my bank account online. Saw a pending transaction for $225.00. Called my bank and filed a claim/dispute. They will perform an investigation. They cancelled my ATM card and froze any more transactions. They said it was some type of money transfer action. They are sending me a new debit card. I noticed in most of the comments that the amounts are all different.

I was charged 56.95 that was not authorized

Claims they are from western union and that a transfer made is on hold.  To call them about the hold . not western union this is a fraud scam attempt.

800notes is NOT a money transfer or banking advice  service.  Judging from the other comments, this could be a SCAM.

Had 2 transactions, approx. $112 each, withdrawn from my (large national well-known brand name) bank account fraudulently. Bank said that the transactions were made with my debit card; appears to be pretty advanced as the card is never out of my posession, and pin is a random number assigned by the bank. Disputed immediately with bank, and the card has been deactivated/reissued.

clarification to my earlier note -- I was never contacted in any way (no e-mail, phone contact, etc). The only reference to the # 877-989-3268 was that it appeared on the debit notes on my bank account on a withdrawal that I did not recognize. As per the note above, I disputed the withdrawal with the bank and had it reversed through their fraud group. This seems to happen once every 1,000 transactions or so on my bank account, have had my debit card deactivated/reissued a number of times over the years.

Just got a call from this number. Scared after seeing people got money taken. If I did not call back or give information, will I be okay if I did actually use western union?

Yesterday I made an authorized Western Union cash transfer to a friend in another state. My bank notified me by text about the transaction. It showed up on my bank register as WU *XXXXXXX863 877-989-3268 CA, and of course I looked it up - and found this site. I did not receive a direct text from WU or a phone call, and the amount is the correct legitimate charge. We have to be vigilant and watch our backs, as scammers are obviously hijacking a legitimate business number. I'm glad to see the folks in this thread keep an eye on their finances for irregularities.

I posted below you about my legitimate Western Union charge and this phone number appearing on my bank statement. However, when you receive any link in an email or phone call from a company and you're unsure if they're scamming you, look up the company's contact information on the internet and get the number/email to call/write from the company's own website.

I just found a charge for a cash advance on my discover card that happened on Jan 1, 2017.  I reported it as fraud and my card has been closed it was for an unusual amount over $300. They said it was an online transaction at Western Union Credit Union.  I've never used or heard of them. Luckily I caught it, now I'm trying to figure what company hacked me. I see this has been reported before.

The only way this number is listed or associated with any of your account is if you issued the transaction.  It's Western Union.  I authorized a charge to send my son money out of my bank account.  This number is legitimate.

My debit card just got hit for $475. Thankfully, my bank reversed this transaction after I called in & filed a fraud claim. This is what the transaction looked like when I got my automated alert:  Wu *6329458781 877-989-3268 Ca 1

just found two transactions totaling $1640 in my account with this number in the info for the transaction, definate scam as i have never transfered money to Western Union.

2017 and this scam is still going on. Never heard of it until it happened to me. Noticed a debit charge on my account for 475 dollars. Immediately called my bank, filed a dispute and put in a fraud alert with equifax. Charge description has this number along with WU MO. Never received a call of any time trying to confirm the charge. Now just gotta wait to see if the "merchant" accepts the charges or not before I get my money back.

It just happened to me this week. they got me for 475. It sucks man but luckily my bank is making the whole process smooth.

Some of the info is real.  If you give any financial info over the phone, you are in trouble.  Western Union told me they do not operate this way.  Any emails you receive should be forwarded to spoof@westernunion.com.  It IS a scam.  Beware!!
