I didn't receive a call, but a text saying "call me back about the job you applied for"

Same here.  Text asking me to call about the job I applied for.  Number to call belongs to Earn My College Degree from Orem UT.

Scam.

According to the Telephonic Consumer Protection Act of 1991, you must tell the telemarketer to take your name and number off their calling list, or remove your name and number from your calling list.  By law, they are supposed to place your name and number on their "Do Not Call" list for TEN YEARS from that date.

Various states, including Pennsylvania, also have Statewide "Do Not Call" registries, and telemarketing companies must by law purchase copies of these statewide lists.

The US Government also has www.donotcall.gov, a National Do Not Call Registry, which will place your telephone numbers from fax lines and land lines to cell phone numbers, on the National Do Not Call List for FIVE years.  Telemarketing Companies are also required by law to purchase this national do not call list.

That also goes for text messages!
