- ElleA guy with an accent called and said that my computer reported errors and would I get on it and he would help me. I told him I don't have a computer but use my phone and I hung up !!
- Debbie M.Caller said he was from Windows and that I had a Trojan. I kept him on the phone for nearly 15 minutes describing my table, desktop, multiple windows in my house, the piano keyboard (I even played a C major scale for him), wallpaper (told him I wanted to put up wallpaper in my bathroom), and thanked him for explaining what Ctrl meant and Alt meant (told him I thought it meant alternator - like in a car). I told him I had a lot of difficulty finding the letters on my keyboard because I was severely dyslexic plus had adhd (that's why I was all over the place), that my husband always helps me with the computer because I am not computer literate, and more. It was a lot of fun messing with the guy. I ended it because I needed to leave by telling him the truth - i was late for a birthday party. He called back about 2 minutes later on a different number and told me what a good player I was - I agreed. I then politely told him how wrong he was in trying to scam others and left him with a question - would he want his own mother to be scammed? Then I just hung up. My granddaughter was rolling with laughter. there was more to what I said but it would take too much space and time to type it. He also gave me the follwoing name and number: Paul Vinson 800-920-8467 ext. 1004

- RockhopperIt can be fun playin' these folks pretending to be a dumb old lady that is scared. Let 'em give instructions that I cannot understand, so they repeat. Of course system is SLOW, too. While they wait, make dumb conversation, usually about my cats or parakeet "wanna hear his dirty rap song?" Hint that I may need to take it in to expert so they think I am ready to fork over bucks, "It will probably cost a lot, they charge $50 bucks just to let you in the door." Have even got them to hold "while I go pee" or get the cat off the computer. Throw in some stuff about butt fissures or sagging breasts I am getting lifted, asking if they'd like me to send a photo of final results... just "stuff" to keep them going around in circles. Then toss out: "Do you tell/brag to your friends and family about your job? Are you proud of what you do, you know, being deceitful and making money from lying and cheating people while making the world a worse place?" A couple of times, they actually stayed on the line until I was the one who hung up. Last time I got inventive and said: "Did you know my son works for the computer crimes division of the FBI and he installed the most advanced call tracking device and programming on this phone?" I thought I heard him poop his pants before he hung up. According to the DNS folks, they do not have much of a budget to pay for really good investigators and the scammers are so plentiful it is hard to keep up. So, I do what I can to keep them on, meanwhile they won't be working on someone else.

- victoria| 1 replyWanted me to open my computer so he could "fix" it. I told the gentleman on the other end that I was an IT technician and was in the process of reporting him to the FCC. I also asked if he wanted to give me his real name and phone number.... For some reason he hung up.
