Some type of collection agency.

Is this civil location services or possible scam? Mention going to my place of employment and other stuff if I don't call back

First I got a text that said:

This is a message from Civil Location Services regarding an open investigation pertaining to ——, —— to verify location information. Please contact the issuer at 888-214-1426 and reference case file 286-00954 to prevent further escalation.

Then I got a call where the caller tried to confirm I live at my address. I refused and challenged the legitimacy of their call. They then called back (iPhone generated voicemail transcript below):

“Hello I need you know that I have a confirm _⁠_⁠_⁠_ this is your telephone number _⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_ give me a call until you're going to cooperate this is not a scam or nor is this not a lie um again my name is Courtney calling from several locations this is on behalf of something I had to do with it between you and my client of something you're not taking care of in your past has nothing to do with us not being real so again if you could please contact me _⁠_ you _⁠_⁠_ _⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_ at 888-214-1426 your case number reference number will be 286 Dash 00954 again this is time sensitive and you do _⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_ to talk to either you or your attorney to give us a call thanks bye…”

Most likely a company trying to make a zombie debt.

Received a call on my cell phone from Nicole Bates with Civil Location Services asking for my husband regarding servicing of legal documents. They referenced a case number and requested a return call. They said there have been 2 failed attempts to service him at his parents address, and the third attempt would cause the issue to go to another department. So, I told them that was the first issue. Then said I would have my husband return their call. Not a minute later, my husband received a text message on his phone from the same company. How did they have both of our numbers looking for him? The only thing they were able to verify with me was his date of birth.

I looked online and wasn't able to verify the legitimacy of this company. My husband's credit report was pulled a month ago and there are no outstanding debts.

We recently upgraded our cell phones with Verizon and since then have received an increase in spam calls, and now these calls/texts. We have a feeling it is not a coincidence that we got new phones (same number) and started receiving all of these stranges callers.

My father just called me all worried saying that they called my cousins number asking for my father and she passed the phone to my father and asked him if he was such and such and if he lived in ...... address and he said yeah and the lady proceed to tell him that he was going to be sending some documents in the mail which he should receive tomorrow friday april 5th 2019 and he needed to sign and date it because someone was suing him civilly. And my dad kept asking by who and the lady expedited the call to a male which he also asked him his name address and my dad asked once again who was suing him by civil court and the guy yelled at him saying if my dad cutted him off again he was going to hang up and he proceeded with same info the female had already told my dad and my dad asked him AGAIN who was taking him to civil court the [***] hung up. So beware im glad to know its not only my dad this looks like a freaking scam. BEWARE!

carrier has nothing to do with it. People are getting these calls all the time. Your credit might have been run and it flagged one of these criminal outfits. Since they texted your husband's number (illegal) then they had it in the first place and the only reason to call you was to create an air up urgency and panic. If there really were papers to be served then you should be able to call the local courthouse and ask if his name is listed in any civil proceedings.  Also ask them how those paper must be served if they actually existed. Scam

They keep calling my father saying they are serving papers on me but they have called him to find out where i am.  First of all my home is in my name, power is in my name, etc....i'm not hiding.  If they are looking for me they are doing a poor job.  I'm tired of them bothering my family members.  THIS IS RIDICULOUS.

For 3 days in a row I have gotten a call from a man named Brent Johnson. The number he calls me from is 702-625-7826. He says he’s from Civil location services. The 1st day he called he said he’s trying to find my location. He said that a file came across their office with a file number and I’m to call 1-888-214-1426 call the agent because it’s time sensitive. I ignored it. The 2nd day Brent Johnson called again with the same message but he gave me a different phone # to call. This one is 888-214-2235. I ignored again. Today (4-11-2019) he called saying that he’s called me several times and since I’m ignoring him they will proceed forward against my knowledge. So, I called back Brent Johnson from his 702-625-7826 #. A message says that it is Civil location services and that you can’t leave a message and that you need to call the number he left with the reference number. I called the 888-214-2235 number and when I asked what this pertained too and why are you calling me, I was hung up on 3 times. Then, I called 888-214-1426 and talked to a woman named Betsy. I said I’ve called 3 times and was hung up on, why are you calling me. She asked if I was me, then she wanted my birthday and social #. I told her that I wasn’t giving her any of that so she told me what my birthday was and my social security number. I said what is this about. She said I’m being sued from a bad check I wrote in 2006 from a Bank of America acct that I never had. I told her it wasn’t mine and she said it was and that with Attorney fees and such I owed them 1598.73 cents. I told her to go ahead and sue me and that I was calling the FCC and turning in all the phone numbers that have called and given to me on my voice mail

I'm being harassed as well by the "Civil Locators" services. They've called so much I just decline the calls now. Seems to be some sort of collection agency. Won't provide any details, as to why they are calling etc. but they do say they are going to proceed with paper filing etc. Like I'm supposed to get afraid and react. Leave the reason why and regarding what you are attempting to contact me about. Being a victim already of identity theft, try to sue me if you think it viable. If they are a"professional" legit company, they sure sound very sketchy.

Instead of repeating what everyone else is saying, my experience is the same. 1st call by location serv., Then I called number they gave me. A guy named Rick Sanchez said that I would owe $13,962.00 with collection and legal fees for an account at US bank I never even had. Try to say they sent me letters stating I couldn’t settle for $6000 or so.. That maybe they will still be able to work with me but once they file with the courts tomorrow it will be too late.. Not sure if this legitimate and someone opened up an acct using my info. Has me a little shooken up, but I really think this is some scam. Makes me feel better other people have reported this number..

To the point... mostly the same as all the above Brent Johnson from 702-625-7826 but now it's "Western Location Services" instead of "Civil Locator Services" calling direct and giving "First -1st Financial 888-214-1426" as the reference company that wants to take action against you.

The names they give are a sure sign of fraud, either so ludicrous as to not to question or as mundane as to have no reference to anything legit.

Then there's the threats of calling friends, family and shaming you with police action if you hang-up on them or challenge them.

There's a special place in H**l for people like this......
