- JJ replies to Sara| 2 repliesHello - Same thing happened to me. Is this a scam? Are you getting a lawyer?
- BigA replies to JJ| 1 replyWhat good would a lawyer do you? There is no lawsuit, they are not going to file a lawsuit. This is the well known debt collection extortion scam being run by bottom of the barrel criminals.
- JJI just received a call from this number saying they are paralegals, and that we were to appear at court if we did not pay right away! They gave me a case number and threatened with a suit.

- BigA replies to JJ2First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file complaints with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
List of State AG’s offices: https://800notes.com/faq/attorney-general - JimThey called my wife's work and left this number and a case number . They told her they were going to come to her work and serve her for me since she was my spouse. She gave me the number and I called they said they were A law firm out of Collin County Texas and when I would not give them any information they insulted me insulted my wife told me I was a chump and hung up on me. But the part that has me concerned is when I asked them if it was a scam the guy actually had my social security number and said that he could scam me any time he wanted to if he chose to. This happened on 7 12 19. I'm getting life lock tonight.

- AnnePerson calling from this number left a voice mail msg that's very entertaining - at least to those having legal knowledge. People such as this prey upon the naive, using scare tactics that intimidate, particularly the elderly & immigrants. Comments here indicate that callers are using the same ridiculous script. First, they don't identify the name of the alleged law firm they're with - because they're not a law firm. Secondly, if they were, they wouldn't call to inform that legal documents were going to be delivered to an individual with whom they've had no prior contact - they'd either send documents via mail or have them delivered by a process server. The message is essentially gibberish having nothing to do with a legitimate legal process, but is nonsense expected to intimidate. They attempt to get one to believe that dire legal consequences will occur without your knowledge if you fail to respond to their call, which is ludicrous. In closing, they state that you have been notified, as though the call somehow amounts to notification of action, as repaired by law. If this is a debt collector, they're rank amateurs. My suspicion is that they're not debt collectors, but scam artists using info available online to target persons with Hispanic surnames & the elderly. They called a wrong number in my case, but the name of the person they were targeting is Hispanic - both first & last. The reason for this is apparent. I'm reporting them to the State Attorney General & federal officials - and recommend others do likewise. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION - and RELAX.

- stephan| 2 repliesGot an email with this number as the contact. Said I had bought a laptop and owed them $1600. Crooks.
- Caller: "windows store"

- Nancy replies to stephan| 1 replyI had the same experience as you, Stephan. I received an email telling me that the laptop I "bought" online, would be delivered to an address where I don't live. The customer service number of the "Microsoft Store" was 888-214-1537. I suspected a scam, so I checked my credit card company online. No purchase. The phone number led me to 800notes. It is amusing that the address of the company who "sold" me the laptop was the exact same street address--in a different city--as the delivery to which it was to be delivered. I must get at least one of these per week. Kind of fun to track them down at first, but it's getting old. SCAM.
- Ward replies to NancyI got the same email yesterday. The delivery address is a town in California. I live in Maryland.
