Debt scam company, calls from unknown/private number, called "National Process Service" which doesn't exist and gives the phone number 888-214-8251 which isn't listed anywhere, supposedly serving papers for an outstanding debt, of which the serving has "failed". Scam hint #1. Process servers will never call telling you when or where they'll serve, they do it when you aren't suspecting and will attempt multiple times and never call you or harass others connected to you, period, and certified mail contact will be the first point of contact for legit companies. They will give you an internal claim number XX XXXXX where first two XX are state abbreviation, which will change depending on who they call and harass and their location in the US. They will call anyone who is listed on public information listings (you can delete that information through Spokeo upon request) tied to the person they are looking for. They say they'll serve on a specific date between specific times but never deliver, never show. This company most likely has bought decades old written off accounts, and are harassing/scamming people for funds that have been settled, or do not belong to anyone being contacted. The telephone number calls "L&G Legal", but they only answer as legal department (scam hint #2) and will only say the company name after being asked and never their name. Also legal companies/firms are very proud of their names, and will answer the phone with it, and say it as many times as they can. They will not let you speak to a supervisor either, nor give any information about their legal company. They are using public records to back up their claim of being legitimate and give information about you, but cannot give you any local court case/record number as requested (scam hint #3). They'll rattle off a debt they say belongs to the person they are calling about, that was given a option to settle at a much lower rate, but is now in the thousands because it was never settled and the served paperwork is sealed and will have that information, and that your home/vehicle loan will have a lien against it (scam hint #4), a lien will be set/approved by a judge/court, not a legal department. If in doubt, contact your local court, they'll gladly search your name for any legal court activity, and will confirm it's a scam, as they hear about those calls frequently.

Incomming number listed as unknown. Left message saying they were National Processing Services, stating a time that they would serve a warrant; stating my name, county, & case number, to contact the lawyer holding the case; 888-214-8251.
