Caller left a message about debt reduction

call started out with one of those automated recordings. The message was about debt redution. I have registered with the national do not call list and accepted the call to see who it was and to let them know that I am on the National do not call list.  The person on the other end of the phone said that he was an attorney and that the calls were not arbitrary.  I said I did not care and would report them.  I did not get a company name.

I just called the number back and the name of the company is Legal Debt Assistance

Had a msg (automated recording) on my voice mail which was partially cutoff. Was able to get the gist of the msg though--something about debt reduction and how they can help in reducing "something" approximately 70%.  Got the phone number from the recording.  It also stated that they can help get creditors off my back etc.... and reduce what I owe, etc... This is a bunch of crap!  My credit is excellent and I have little debt other than my mortgage.  They are nothing more than desparate predatory lenders that do nothing but steal naive people's money.  Anyone can go directly to any creditor and work out an arrangement if trouble arises.  I work in the financial services industry and a majority of lenders want to work to resolve delinquencies.  Be very wary of these companies.  Also, I too am on the National Do Not Call list.

I called 1-888-215-4226 and left a voice mail telling them that I was going to turn them in to the National Do Not Call list. A Bob Kemper who claimed to be a attorney told me that he got my name through some email supplier and if I did turn them in he would take legal action against me.  He gave me some ip address that he said he got my info from, although I'm listed in the phone book and he would not answer any of my questions so I could get his street address, just kept saying I'll see you in court, I'll see you in court. My final reply to him was kiss my butt.

I got the same call today talking about reducing my debt by 70% it seems crafted to catch voicemail and act like the part to remove you from their list got cut off.  Reported to the FCC form 1088, which I'm beginning to think is just a panacea for people to feel like they are doing something even though nothing is getting done.

yeah i just got one of those voice mails on my phone, it just says two words that you cannot understand. so i look up the number. you are all right and i think they just look for peoples names that have gotten some type of loans online and then call saying they can help.  they probably just want you money and then they disappear.  also they cannot take you to court for reporting them to the national do not call list i am on that to and they know they are not suppose to call and they cannot take you to court they just think they can scare some people but people are not dumb.
