- Annapolis| 3 repliesMy Grandmother has been getting money taken out of her checking account from somebody at this number. They claim to be ARP. A Newsletter send out monthly detailing ways to win $175,000. I called and asked them to cancel it. I'll see what they do.
- Linda replies to Annapolis| 2 repliesThis is happening to my Mother as well, and I can not get them to answer their phone to cancel it, so our next step is the bank.
- Paula replies to LindaI just called them and told them to cancel it - mother has alzheimers - these people are the lowest of the low!
- Shari_S| 2 replies(don't have call details). I have POA for my 92 yr old mother. Found a monthly debit in her bank acct to ARP. I called this number & they said they send a monthly newsletter with a chance to win $175'000. I said to cancel. they said within 72 hrs...we'll see...
- EJMHave POA for my brother who has brain damage. He sent them a check last month for $7.00 - now this month there is a recurring charge for $19.00 from the same company. Called the bank, was told to call the company, ARP (something like American Reporting Publishers, a lottery listing newsletter). Called them and told them to cancel. We'll see.
- EJMSorry, I didn't make it clear in the previous post that the number appeared on the bank statement as an identifier for the company. They may have called my brother initially, or sent him a letter; they never called me. He has been getting calls and letters from scammers for years, thus the POA.
- NanciThey've been scamming my 92 year-old father for just under a year. I told them to take him off their mailing list. The girl who picked up the phone actually said that she'd need his bank acct info, LOL!
I just told her I'm reporting her "company" to the FBI. - Nanci replies to Shari_SThe same exact thing happened to my 92 y/o dad.
I demanded they remove him from their list.
Again...we'll see. - NancyI am having the same problem with this company and am furious. The bank will not assist either. Have to pay for a stop payment, but that only lasts for 6 months. I have been going back and forth with this company. I work for an attorney and will let her know about this. I don't know what to do either. I am going to check with my attorney. Will let you all know.

- NancyI have turned these people over to the Florida Attorney General and am going to speak to my attorney tommorow. I am furious that this occurs and the banks do nothing to prevent this. I have also messaged Wachovia Bank regarding this problem.
- conniegDiscovered my mother talking to these people on the phone, she thought she'd won some contest and they were affiliated with American Publishers. First time she'd given them her VISA number, cancelled her card. Now 2 weeks later discovered $19 deducted by them from her checking. Best to close the checking account, best way to get rid of them. Oh, and get rid of the landline phone...we're going cellular.

- William TMy 79 year old mother with early dementia was scammed by this low life's too. I was visiting her and she was overdrawn on her checking account. I sat down with statements and found out that for more than a year, these parasites had been debiting her checking account $12.00 per month.

- karenmy mother of 87 years is involved is there anyone in our govt that can stop this . The govt put and end to poker star betting and the FBI shut them down....but we have millions of elderly people giving their hard earned money and no one seems to care. Why Not?
- Joseph| 1 replyThis company also has another number you can call 888-889-8845. No difference in resolution of issue though.
Saw a charge for $7 on my mothers account. Called 888-215-9441 above mentioned number and they said the same thing as many of you are saying "we do not have any information about your account, all we do is handle refunds/cancellations" "i work for an outside service that doesnt have access to acct info" i asked her the name of her "outside service company", she said she's not allowed to say so because the thing she is looking at tells her that she can't. They said that if i wanted the signed authorization form that they can have it faxed to me but i'll need to provide them with my bank account number, because that is the only way they have to search for my account. She also said "ONLY your bank acct #, not the routing #"...as if that would make me feel safer to divulge that information (i used to work for a bank, i already know that routing numbers can be looked up on the internet, they are geographical area/banking company specific). Ended up that i only provided them with the numbers that were listed on the online charge and with the last 4 of my account number, thats all. She said she'll put in the request but no guarantee itll be refunded. I asked her if i gave her all of the account number, can she guarantee it will be refunded she said yes.
I then called 888-889-8845, to see if i would get somebody different, same "call center" different person. She told me that she was ARP customer service, i asked if she could tell me about her company, she read something off of her screen i'm sure. I asked if they have a website, she told me it was www.arp.com .....i had my laptop right next to me, looked it up and it took me to some german website, she then told me she doesnt know why i am getting a german website, but that is the site. Then we went through the same schpeel as outlined above, only i didnt give her any info this time.
Only resolution i can think of now, without giving any more info would be to change my bank account number, however this will not get my moms $7 back and will probably cost money in order to do so.- Caller: ARP - American Reporting Publishing
- KJDurfeeFrom Oregon: Our story is similar. We discovered yesterday that ARP has been stealing $19/month from our 83-yr-old father since last December or before. Of course, he has no memory of who or what they are, or if he responded to a phone call or a mail "offer."
I did some Internet research and found at 888-215-9441 a company named "American Reporting Publishers" whose only "service" is "News Letters." Their newsletter is supposed to give you info about how to win a sweepstakes for $175,000. It's mailing address is Memphis, TN, but the Memphis Better Business Bureau says it's office is in Cordova, TN (a suburb?). It has 2-4 employees and has been in existence for about 3 years. It's CFO is named Steve Debray.
Has anyone been successful in getting the "subscription" cancelled by calling the number? Is it worth the time to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau? The BBB of Memphis, which gives this company an "F" rating, shows 14 complaint reports on "A.R.P." but none for "American Reporting Publishers."
I think we will have to get dad a new bank account number in order to stop the theft. We are checking into his bank to see what they might suggest, but the auto-debit did not originate from the bank, so it can't be stopped by the bank.
Another online reporting site (www.whocallsme.com) also has a blog column for ARP at 888-215-9441. I'll post again when I have more to report.- Caller: ARP
- Lindey replies to JosephI called today and asked if they had a website, the lady "Jan" told me no they don't but she would put a message through that I was asking for one.
- AceI called for my M-i-L tonight. They say they will submit a request for cancellation, which should be effective in 72 hours, but since I did not have the full bank acct #, it might not go through. I will have that info next week. I asked for a refund & she agreed to submit that as well.
