1-888-228-4966 is not a valid number. If you are sure that you got a phone call from a number beginning with this prefix, the caller may have 'spoofed' caller ID.

Rcvd a voice message from this number telling me I needed to update my credit card number for payment to Minnesota Power...I don't have a credit card nor would I use it to pay bills online.

Got a call from 888-228-4966 during business hours and received an automated message from MN Power advising of distribution pole inspections occurring inside my service area. Very informative, completely legitimate.

Got a call from this number yesterday and they left no message. We're on the do not call list but the scammers completely ignore that and they're not slowing down on trying to scam people. Being it's gotten so bad recently we've finally had to start blocking numbers, and being this number didn't leave any message I was tempted to just block it as well. But I usually check to see if any other comments/complaints are made on numbers first to try and determine what it was about. Good thing I did cause a few commenters said it's Minnesota Power. We had a power outage yesterday so I'm wondering if it was related to that. But regardless it's dumb that they left no message. They should know better, that goes for individuals too. Because if the caller ID says stuff like "Toll Free" (in this case it did) or "Out of Area" etc. I'm not going to know who it is and will very likely assume it's just another scammer or spoofed call ignoring the do not call list, in which case I'll block and report it. I'm tired of being bothered by scammers.

Electrical service in this part of the city went out around 6:30 a.m., so i called MN Power’s automated outage line to report it. The recorded response said they would notify those affected when service was restored.
Service came back on an hour later and there was no response.
I went to work and came home many hours later to this number only on my home phone’s display and only part of a recorded message on voicemail, left four hours after power had been restored.
The voice was the same one from the outage line, although the number was different and MN Power was not identified.
