- Wyndham memberCalled and left this number to call back. Called back, got a recording asking to enter cc# or ss# and they asked for lots of information (security questions, D/L number, etc.) before finding out they wanted to confirm a contested charge. Said they were Barclays Security Dept. Called number on back of credit card and they said it was legit. Don't like the way they do business. I still don't trust them.
- Caller: Barclay's Security Dept.
- BBoth numbers were called from. The information that was given by the caller could not be verified on the other end of the call. I was given an application ID number. When I called back, I was told that number didnt exist and they needed social security number.
- Caller: Claiming Barclays

- KSomeone called me from the number 302-300-3664 and said they were from Barclays Mastercard and I need to return their call at the number 888-232-0776. I called this number and they said there was a security alert on my account. I logged into my account and there was indeed a security alert so it seemed legit. We talked through the steps to clear it up where they asked for my information such as name, birthdate, last 4 of SSN.
I got suspicious because the agent asked for my security question (mother's maiden name) and then I was sent a text from Barclays with a secure passcode. The text message clearly says "Don't share this code". The agent said he needed the code and it was ok if I shared. I told him it was a scam and hung up. I was very nearly scammed because they were trying to log in to my account.
If you are reading this, please NEVER tell anyone over the phone any passcode that they text to you. It is someone trying to get through a password reset pretending to be you and if you give them the passcode they can take over your account. HANG UP and call the number on the back of your physical credit card. Do not call any number they give you. I reported this scam to Barclays and I hope no one falls for it like I almost did.- Call type: Scam suspicion
