- Gilly| 4 repliesI actually used Universal Account Servicing, LLC for a loan via Quickcert.com (an online educational tool) and trust me, they have some really nasty customer service reps working there. I am trying to investigate them as we speak to find out if they are in fact a ligit company and i filed complaints through the Better Business Bureau due to bad business. You can check out their profile through the BBB at the following link:

- payback is fun!| 1 replyAll we have to do is return the favor to the bill collectors. We can't seem to stop them so how can they stop us. Post their company #'s on made up sites where it will recieve many hits a day and post an advertisement that refers their # to them. Use your imagination. We have the power of technology, so let's use it.
- JeanieLinda left a message on my cell phone saying Hi Jeanie! If you see Debbie today (my daughter) would you ask her to give me a call?
I googled the number and found this site. I am currently on the DoNotCall list for sales but that doesn't seem to matter.- Caller: don't know
- MISCThis is a collection agency. Kept calling and saying it was urgent that I called them regarding business I had with them. I called and talked to a really rude woman who would tell me nothing unless I gave her personal information, then she hung up on me. I called back and talked to someone else slightly more helpful. Turns out it was for an at-will optional membership with a different company that I chose not to renew, so I didn't pay. I am on the do not call registry so they should not be calling. And if I didn't pay the optional bill, isn't that a clue to them that I no longer want the service?

- largeInCharge replies to Tinawillwin| 2 repliesThe cs reps there are mo-fo's. I spoke to the manager there and he was a rude little piece of you know what. I wish they were in Jersey becuase I would have went there looking for him personally. This company is up to no good. They call me every day looking for my Mother but instead harass me.
- largeInCharge replies to payback is fun!I agree. We should make life for them misarable and return the favor

Dear {insert name of collector or company},
I am writing in response to your (letter or phone call) dated {insert date}, (copy enclosed) because I do not believe I owe what you say I owe.
This is the first I've heard from you, or any other company on this matter therefore, in accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Section 809(b): Validating Debts:
(b) If the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period described in subsection (a) that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, or that the consumer requests the name and address of the original creditor, the debt collector shall cease collection of the debt, or any disputed portion thereof, until the debt collector obtains verification of the debt or any copy of a judgment, or the name and address of the original creditor, and a copy of such verification or judgment, or name and address of the original creditor, is mailed to the consumer by the debt collector.
I respectfully request that you provide me with the following information:
(1) the amount of the debt;
(2) the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed;
(3) Provide a verification or copy of any judgment (if applicable);
(4) Proof that you are licensed to collect debts in (insert name of your state).
Be advised that I am fully aware of my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. For instance, I know that:
because I have disputed this debt in writing within 30 days of receipt of your dunning notice, you must obtain verification of the debt or a copy of the judgment against me and mail these items to me at your expense;
you cannot add interest or fees except those allowed by the original contract or state law.
you do not have to respond to this dispute but if you do, any attempt to collect this debt without validating it, violates the FDCPA;
Also be advised that I am keeping very accurate records of all correspondence from you and your company including recording all phone calls and I will not hesitate to report violations of the law to my State Attorney General, the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau.
I have disputed this debt; therefore, until validated you know your information concerning this debt is inaccurate. Thus, if you have already reported this debt to any credit-reporting agency (CRA) or Credit Bureau (CB) then, you must immediately inform them of my dispute with this debt. Reporting information that you know to be inaccurate or failing to report information correctly violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act § 1681s-2. Should you pursue a judgment without validating this debt, I will inform the judge and request the case be dismissed based on your failure to comply with the FDCPA.
Finally, if you do not own this debt, I demand that you immediately send a copy of this dispute letter to the original creditor so they are also aware of my dispute with this debt.

- LizThis telephone number is registered to Global Verge in St. Louis, although the recording said Universal something or other, he was calling about an important business matter. I hung up at that point. <grin>
Here's the link to the BBB Reliability Report, which is F:

It has the name of the CEO, COO and VP of marketing. It is registered as a multi-level selling company, whatever that is. You may have to cut and paste, since the link doesn't *look* live.- Caller: "Universal" a.k.a. Global Verge

So far my interaction has been positive and it sounds as if I have been fortunate in that. Time will tell. They are servicing the "loan" for my online "business" that I fell for.
I told Universal that I had requested my account be closed and the loan canceled. She said she needed written confirmation from the lender but that she would turn off the automatic debit while I cleared things up.- Caller: Universal Account Servicing

- CloudyOneI am a developer for a company and we recently started using these guys for financing & collections.
It's amusing how people will sign up for things then when they fail to fulfill their obligations they immediately claim it's a scam.
UGA is a legitimate company that is used by many other companies to collect on past due balances. We provide online education, and without these guys, we would would have to open our own collections department, costs that we'd have to offset by raising the price of the same education that people are failing to finish paying for. - romanThey are tied in with Summer Bay Resorts. Nothing but liars and thieves.

- Wendy replies to Alfalfa| 1 replyMy son is 100% disabled having returned from the tour of duty for our country –as a Marine Sniper he is currently in the VA Hospital in California for Head Trauma – the VA found this charge coming out of his account for 250 dollars a month for two years – something is wrong here and I need help resolving this mess it is not fair for people to take advantage of others I am clueless as to what it is for – when we ask him he said it was for a dating site – nothing I have ever heard of cost like this. – What would you suggest I do
witchyitchywoman@q.com - anonymous replies to WendyAlfalfa posted in March 2009 so it's unlikely s/he'll see your post. The best source of info "as to what it is for" is your son. If he says "a dating site", why do you doubt him? Costs can vary depending on what "dating" entailed. Since your son recognizes the debt and had presumably given the charging party access to his account 2 years ago, it's unlikely he's being taken advantage of unless the creditor is taking excessive $amounts. You can calculate what's legally due if you know the details of the debt and your son has all the answers.
