Text telling me money was withdrawn from my venmo and if it wasn't me to click on a link on the message. Didn't click it. Just opened up my Venmo and saw no transactions. Interesting I wonder how they find out one uses Venmo?

Because they send that out to thousands of phones and figure that somewhere along the way there will be people that use Venmo.  Just like all the other texts and calls for things such as Student Loans,  particular banks, utilities, etc.

I doubt they send it to people who didn't use Venmo as it wouldn't make sense.

Why wouldn't it?  It costs them nothing to send all that out.  But you can believe what you want as I know better simply from reading the thousands of reports on this site which reflect similar circumstances.

So, I forgot to ask, why are you here?  You obviously did not get a text or call otherwise you would have reported it.  That leaves only two other options.  Either you searched my screen name out or you saw my post on the home page and clicked on it.

Its called "Phishing" and that is how scammers find victims. Use a little common sense, if they ONLY sent texts to people who had Venmo, then they would have had to spend a lot of time to research and find those specific victims. But, if they mass text out to EVERYONE using an auto texting program, someone is bound to be an actual Venmo customer and click the link in a panic.

If only common sense was actually common. 😺

Got the same text message today. Checked my Venmo account also and nothing. Spam
