This # is for ADT Alarm Services.  They called to notify me of an alarm at my house.  Orignally I thought it was a telemarketer.

Thanks! I also thought it was a noisy telemarketer.

Since my phone number is both unlisted and on the Do Not Call list, I rarely get phone calls of any kind, let alone on a Sunday morning.

An American-sounding woman called with a fast spiel, only caught "from ADT" regarding an alarm received.

Asked her to slow down/that I had no clue to what she was talking about.

I was concerned that someone was in crisis mode and the wrong number was being called.

She gave me an address in Oswego,IL which I indicated was not mine (although nearby, I would be surprised if my phone number prefix is used there, as well).

In case it was an incorrectly dialed number, I did give her my phone number that we were already talking on.

Ironically, one of my "to dos" is to research emergency personal call monitoring, including a service offered by ADT.  

This *wrong call* was definitely a negative for ADT!

Follow-on to my prior post above:

Wow, I just got "another" phone call today, 9/11,at 10:35 with almost an identical spiel.

I indicated that I was extremely hostile - that someone had paid for EMERGENCY coverage, only to have a WRONG number called, not once, but twice in three days!

IS THAT PERSON DYING ON THE FLOOR AS I TYPE??  Or was one, or both, of the phone calls a TOTAL SCAM??

The person asked for my address (interrupted after just street number) and indicated that my phone number would be *removed*.  I indicated that that was I'd been already been told!

"Removed" is a *marketing* phrase!  "Corrected with the customer" is what I would expect to have been said!  BOTH times!

NOTE: When I just tried to find this same site with the number on my Caller ID, I suddenly noticed that the 9/9 phone call was from ***888***-238-2727, while today's phone call from ***800***-238-2727.  

The 800-238-2727 brings you to RIPOFFREPORT.com!  Based on those reports, I will *never* do business with ADT!

I received a call at 12:56am on 9/12 from this number. As I was half asleep I didn't catch all of what she was saying. I thought she said she was calling from ATT but I do not have ATT phone service. From reading your postings, it could've been ADT as they sound similar. The party she mentioned was Gail Williams. I was not very personable at that time of night and let the lady know I was NOT happy with the call, regardless of the reason. I am on the do not call list but if this is not a sales call it probably won't do any good to register.

888-238-2727 Just called to say "... we sent out a signal ... you didn't get it". Unfortunately my wife gave out our password (we'll change it now) and told me about it later. Very suspicious call at 7:15pm.

Recieved call at 5:15 pm on 10/21/07. Lady was talking really fast, about ADT alarm set off, and need a password. I told her I didn't know what she was talking about. She replied asking if this was some address FAR from mine. She took my name for the do not call list. Wierd.

Call was from ADT for a friends alarm system to say that their alarm was sounding, and that we were on the contact list.  Message was very fast, but made sense.

This really is ADT.  My parents have service with them and I am on the contact list.  I didn't recognize the number, but they left me a message telling me that the burglar alarm had been activated.

I got a phone call to my cell phone and then an unintelligable voice message from someone who sounded like he had marbles in his mouth.  I decided to look up the number and kept finding complains like this

May be you are under your neighbors contac list and you don't know it. ADT has to call the people on the contact list and it could be that the customer NOT ADT has the incorrect phone number.

both 800-238-2727 and 888-238-2727 are call back numbers for an ADT monitoring center (800-ADT-ASAP)

believe it or not, the operators there are American and speak english.  

you may have been put on a friends emergency contact list, or even placed on a contact list by error (new subscriber gives them your number).  to have your name removed from the list, simply tell them they have a wrong number.  they are required to ask for your first and last name, but it is NOT required to remove your number.  simply tell them you'd rather not and they should remove it without further question.

usually if you are getting this call, the authorities have already been called and now ADT is looking for a person to meet them at the premise.

they will tell you the name and address of the alarm (subscriber) so you can follow up with them if you wish.  you should ask the homeowner what your responsibilities are as a contact list member (should you wish to stay on the list).  You have certain authorities also, including having them disregard signals (for repetitive calls).

A lot of times their ADT's number will show up unknown on the caller id.  You can verify if it was them by calling the 800 or 888 number.  Give them the address and name of the account and they can look it up for you (if you are on the list).

Got a call from these guys, they left a message. Said they were ADT and i was on the call list for the house in question. It was a family member. Called and confirmed, it was correct. This is a valid number, someone may have put you on their call list, "phat fingered" an incorrect number into the call list, or even have an outdated call list.

They called twice this morning asking for someone I have never heard of.  I explained this was my cell phone and that I never heard of them and they had the wrong number.  They asked for my first name and said they would remove me from the person's call list.

My cell phone rang with the # 888-238-2727. I didn't recognize the number but answered anyway. The call was disconnected. The phone immediately rang again - same #. I answered, asked who it was, no response, I told them not to call this number again and they haven't - yet.
All of my #s are on the do not call list and it makes me very angry when I get a call from a telemarketer or whoever this was!

Valid call from ADT Security.  My number was on the contact list for a neighbor from whom they received an alarm.  Not a telemarketer.

Either you were on the emergency contact list from the business/residence they were calling about, or that business/homeowner mistakenly gave ADT the incorrect number for one of their emergency contacts.

It is ADT Security calling about an alarm event.

Not a telemarketer.  It is ADT Securities Customer Monitoring Center, calling about an alarm event at some location.  You were aparently on the emergency contact list.  There was obviously some phone line trouble.

Got a call at 1:48am this morning and the caller said he was from ADT and a alarm was going off at our residence. I informed him that he had the wrong address and he gave me a street address that I have never heard of. Told him he had the wrong number. He did ask my name.
