    TOTAL SCAM. This man "Greg Sharp" called and left v/m on my cell saying there was a claim against me and if I didn't call him back that legal action would be taken. He called my mom! Told her the same thing. Looked this up on a different site (White Pages-Reverse Look Up) and it is a scam. Do not give out any information. The number that called in was not the same as what he left. When I called back it says Nationwide, but it is not their number. Grrrrrrr

    Got call from 785-220-9290, however I spoke with rep and he said their located in Tempe, AZ. The call back number was 888-238-3993. This company NATIONWIDE is a 100% scammer. A "Robert Collins" called and said he had a "claim" on his desk in my name. Started asking me questions about employment, ph#, etc. Didn't say what the call was for. He blatantly violated the Fair Consumers Debt Practice Act. I'm assuming he was going to say I had a payday loan debt, which I've never had. Lawful debt collection companies snail mail 5 business days before calling. The mail has a statement of original creditor, loan amount, interest, date, payoff, business name and complete address.

    I cut him off before he had a chance to say legal action or sheriff would arrest me. I've dealt with other scammers like this.  To all, don't let these scum bag type companies get you stressed. File a police report with your city, the city they say their located, the BBB, FTC, Fraud.org, and FCC.

    Also, all you have to do is mention the FCDPA(google it) and ask if they are aware of the penalties of violating it? This will scare them when they find out they could be sued and face jail time them selves as a rep even though they don't own the company.

    Fight back!!!

    Someone's Mom
    Received vm message on my cell phone today, 10/29/14, from a Veronica Day. The number she called from was 870-505-4197, but the number to call back was 888-238-3993. The message said she was looking for a valid address, phone # and employer information for my daughter. She stated that if I did not return her call today, that by law she would contact other references for this information.  Glad I looked her first. I won't be calling back.

    I also recently received a call from "Greg Sharp" staying he had a claim "on his desk" and to call the company back at 888-238-3993. He called me from number 217-909-4053, for Nationwide. However I can find no information regarding this company. They also said they needed to verify my information. I know I have no outstanding debt or loans, so this leads me to believe this is a scam. I've had similar instances in the past with different supposed companies and they were scammers. I've spoke with the police and they agreed to not talk to them or give them any information. These scams are quiet common and have been in abundance since third party company's could start purchasing your information. So be careful what information you put on the internet. Or if you've ever applied for payday loan before those companies sell your information and this is usually the result. It's terrible and illegal. DON'T GIVE OUT ANY INFORMATION

    I also received a call from "Greg Sharp". The voicemail stated he had a claim against me and that I needed to call back 888-238-3993 to verify my address and place of employment. When I called the number back that he called me with, it stated it was Nationwide. I assumed insurance, but no they're a debt collector from Arizona. Once he started giving me his spiel I hung up. It's not legit. I looked them up and there are complaints against them on BBB and they're not BBB accredited. From what I've read here the debtor would snail mail you the debt owed and if there was a legal complaint they would not call you first to verify information. If a company is going to sue you they'll send a process server to simply serve you papers. There's no notice. This looks to be a SCAM. They don't give clear identity of who they are. And from what I've read and experienced they haven't sent any physical written notice (my address hasn't changed in 15 years...). They are in violation of this act, which usually means it is a SCAM. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR INFORMATION. If you do decide to talk to them demand a written notice with the debt information on it before you agree to pay anything. They have to send written notice. HAVE TOO, ITS THE LAW.

    Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
    § 806.  Harassment or abuse  [15 USC 1692d]
    (6) Except as provided in section 804, the placement of telephone calls without meaningful disclosure of the caller's identity.

    § 809.  Validation of debts   [15 USC 1692g]
    (a) Within five days after the initial communication with a consumer in connection with the collection of any debt, a debt collector shall, unless the following information is contained in the initial communication or the consumer has paid the debt, send the consumer a written notice containing --
    (1) the amount of the debt;
    (2) the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed;
    (3) a statement that unless the consumer, within thirty days after receipt of the notice, disputes the validity of the debt, or any portion thereof, the debt will be assumed to be valid by the debt collector;
    (4) a statement that if the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, the debt collector will obtain verification of the debt or a copy of a judgment against the consumer and a copy of such verification or judgment will be mailed to the consumer by the debt collector; and
    (5) a statement that, upon the consumer's written request within the thirty-day period, the debt collector will provide the consumer with the name and address of the original creditor, if different from the current creditor.
    (b) If the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period described in subsection (a) that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, or that the consumer requests the name and address of the original creditor, the debt collector shall cease collection of the debt, or any disputed portion thereof, until the debt collector obtains verification of the debt or any copy of a judgment, or the name and address of the original creditor, and a copy of such verification or judgment, or name and address of the original creditor, is mailed to the consumer by the debt collector.
    (c) The failure of a consumer to dispute the validity of a debt under this section may not be construed by any court as an admission of liability by the consumer.

    Got a call from #515-478-3497. He called 2x in a row. Finally left a message. Said his name was Sean Archer and was looking for information about my sister. He need to know her whereabouts, phone # and address. He said if I don't give him the information that by law he would go to different references. Looked up the 515-478-3497 and could find nothing about it. I am assuming it is a scam as my husband got a call a few weeks ago asking about my sister and saying the same information.
