Got a call from this company saying they are process servers and they will be placing a levy on my bank account and a wage garnishment unless my legal representation or I call then back to stop it.

i received the same phone call... any idea if this is a scam or not?

I received a voicemail from these people as well.  When calling them back I was informed it was for a Walmart credit card that was paid off and closed in 2009!  This is the second set of debt collectors in the past 5 months calling about the same credit card! Getting really fed up!!

These people called my place of employment his name was Scott from Baring and Gibson legal department. I called them back, we put on hold forever hung up, the voice recorder said if your calling about papers being servered to you or your case number please hold. Never received anything. These people are starting in again, this is out of control.

An actual Process Server is not going to have any conversation with you about any debt you owe, nor will they demand payment from you. If something like this happens, immediately call local law enforcement and make a full report including as much descriptive information as you can give them of the person impersonating a court officer.

What ever came of this, please?

1. Process servers do NOT warn you that they are coming.
2. Wage garnishment is done by a COURT ORDER - not because a debt collector says so.
3. Voice mails, emails, faxes, & texts are NOT an official notification.
