I have a telemarketer block on my phone, so I don't know if they called me. However, a fraudulent charge was placed on my credit card account and the merchant was listed as "ID Safe" and gave this number as their contact number. When I called it, a recorded French operator answered and said that the party was not available.

888 261-6045 ID Safe was listed on Bank Statement on 12 21 2007 for a charge of 429.00 I believe this is a Fradulent Charge
Tried calling the number, but the phone just rang, no answer. Tried Several Times no answer.  Any info on this number would be of great help.

I also have a charge on my credit card statement for ID SAFE for 429 dollars. I've already called my bank and they've put a hold on that charge while they research it further. The banker tried calling the number listed on my report 8883537860 and was able to connect with someone who said they were closed until January 3 and received no other information. The banker also told me ID SAFE is listed under computer/computer software in their information.

My recommendation is to call your bank and start the fraudulent charge process. Even if the charge is valid...which I'm almost 100% sure it's not, they will only hold the charge and put additional protections on your card while they research the matter further.

I also have that charge from ID SAFE for $429 placed on 12/28/2007 and settled in my account on 12/31/2007. I already disputed the charge.

Same here.  $429 ID Safe.  Called the number.  No answer then a french message and then in english that the call couldn't be placed.  Reading an earlier post someone mentioned that they heard their office was closed until 1/3 so I'll try tomorrow before disputing.

Same here. Same amount same date. I called Bank of America. Fraud department advised to cut up credit card and have frozen the account. They are initiating investigation. They will reverse charges within 48 hours.

Do not wait. Call your card issuer immediately and close your account.

I just cancelled the account with Bank of america.  THey've heard from a bunch of customers today with the same charge.  Cancel your card and don't forget to contact companies thaty ou might have auto-payments setup with or scheduled charges.

I also have a charge on my credit card from ID SAFE in the amount of $429. I was online this a.m. in the process of making a payment to my Bank of America Visa card when I noticed a new transaction dated 12-31-07 and posted to my account on 1-3-08. I contacted Bank of America and reported it to their Fraud Department and also notified them of this website where they can review posts left by others.  When I tried calling 888-261-6045 I received a message in Spanish, then in English it stated no one was available, please leave a message. You are not able to leave a message, you receive a fast busy signal.

Having the same issue with my Visa. $429 charge from ID SAFE. Totally fraudulent. On hold with customer service as I type...

My credit card company was able to patch me through on a three-way call with the Indian call center that was hired yesterday by ID Safe. In a hilarious twist of irony, the call center operator actually told me that this $429 charge was for credit protection! Baaahahahahahahahaha! That would be the mother of all credit protection services. Every legitimate credit protection service I've seen costs about $39/year. The ID Safe call center operator told me and the bank rep that they would credit my account, but I highly doubt that will happen. I told her I'll be holding my breath. The bank told me that if the credit doesn't go through after 30 days, to call back and they'll issue a credit from their end. Welcome to the age of the Internet...

same story, except the number was disconnected when I called. $429, charged on New Year's Eve.

I don't know if this has any connection, but Dish Network put a charge on my card at nearly the same time as this ID Safe "transaction" took place.

Called the number again this morning.  Connected to a call center in India.  On hold for about 10 minutes.  Lady finally answered and advised me that I or somebody in my household made the charge.  I told her I did not.  I gave her my cell number and she promised me that the charge would be removed from my account and someone will call me later.  We'll see.  On a different note, when I called my visa card company (State  Farm Bank)to dispute the charge,  the lady there also accused me, in no uncertain terms, of making the charge.  Needless to say, when this is finally taken care of, I will never use State Farm's VISA again.

Same here, $429 ID SAFE on 12/29/07. Citibank Visa statement says the company is in MO, phone number has answering machine with no identity in the recording, only in English. I had that account number canceled, and have no idea how it got compromised.

Got the same crap charged to my card. I've filed a dispute with my CC company US Bank Visa to get it removed.

I also received a bogus charge from, ID Safe on 01/11/08 for $429.  My credit card company asked me to call the company to reverse the charge, but, of course, the company was closed.  I called my credit card company and asked for a new account number.  I also reported the company to their security department.  Check your abbount often!

AFAIK, I did not receive a call from this number, but my credit card was charged $429 on Jan 10, 2008. The phone number (888-261-6045) is in the Merchant Name associated with the charge. I have protested the charge.
