They are required by law to give you proof.
This is a common ploy by criminals attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, etc. all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

I got the same phone call today

I just got a call from them. She said her name was ruby banks and when I had asked her what company she was from she hung up on me. They had also left a message like the ones in the comments above...

Same thing happened to me. Ruby banks answered I said who she hung up now I can't get thru it gets forwarded to the "examiners" depr

I'm keeping track of this number. I don't listen to the message because I know it's a bogus call. It's obviously a scam but I'm tired of being harassed by these calls. I don't give my cell number out, so where are they getting it from, that's the question I want to know. I decline when retailers ask for my number for coupons or even when processing returns.
The only place I can think of is either the cell phone companies or the utility companies are selling the information. In this time of data breaches you should be very cautious who you give your info to.

Called saying they were looking for a certain nameXXXXXXX and if I knew of any information on this person to call 1-888-265-3362. They call about once a week but call work and a family member, this needs to stop. I have no debts, I will be reporting them. Trying to scare people who may have had debt in the past is to way to try and scam people now. Its wrong!!!
