Ok this is the latest scam and it's a pretty scary one. Suggest all who get a call from this number report it to their local law enforcement.

Voice message left by 1-888-281-6577 - caller (with foreign accent) identified himself as "Officer Brian John" from the Tax Crime Unit at Canada Revenue Agency. When I called the number back, he now identified himself as "Kyle Cooper" even though it was the same guy. He stated in the message I or my attorney needs to call him back about an urgent criminal matter and I should not disregard the call. When I called and spoke to him he then claimed I was under investigation by the CRA Tax Crime Unit and I was "the primary subject of an illegal affidavit against you." I asked him what that meant and he tried to get me to identify myself by giving him further information. I said no way this is a scam and he became VERY agitated and said I was foolish, etc etc...I ended the call by telling him I am recording the call and taking all info to my local RCMP to report. I reported the incident to my phone company just now.

IT IS A CRIME TO SAY YOU ARE AN OFFICER OR TO CLAIM YOU ARE AN AGENT OF THE CRA. The more people who report this the better chance we have of nailing these [***] and stopping them for good.

DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION - REPORT TO YOUR LOCAL RCMP DISPATCH - BRING THE RECORDED VOICEMAIL IF YOU CAN.

Just got the same call from this" officer Brian John"  weird name, too much fear inducement and message was cut off. Very sketch. I didn't call back but I reported it to my telephone provider. Always reverse phone number lookup before calling unknown numbers back.

Just got a message on my machine from the Officer Brian John, he said it was extremely time sense and that I call him back immediately. Never told me why in the message and never called back. The number he provided was 888-281-6577 which immediately tipped me off that it was a scam because if it was from London's law enforcement to would've been a different number. Also as some people were saying the guy said it was CRA I say bull crap because the CRA number is 1-800.

I just was woken up by this person saying the same as above.

Just got the same message.  I didn't call back and have deleted the message.  Scary that people fall for this though.

Just received the same message today while I was at work.  Same number left - and message was cut off - he mentioned legal action, etc. but I never heard company he was calling from or anything about taxes but I did hear what I thought was Ryan John...but now that makes sense about "Brian John".   These scammers are brutal.   I won't be calling back but I'll report it to the RCMP.  Effers.

I also had this message on machine today.  I knew something was off because of the 888 prefix.  I will not be calling him back.
