Shoddy robocall from ARG attempting to contact someone in the field.

This # keeps calling my cell, saying calling from ARB, asked what is ARB, the call is ended, they use a ref # to call back with, i called and asked the purpose of this business, they hang up, they keep calling and sating that they are a arbitration firm and to avoid legal action to call them Called again, they started asking me my info. and i stated i am not giving any info unless they identify who they are and the purpose of the call, they try and verify my information, if i don't, they hang up. If this is a scam, they are now using not utilizing foreign locations, accents, to try and sound more legitimate.

Hortibly rude.people answering their calls. They left a message on my home phone looking for my first ex-husband's third ex-wife.
I called and tried to give the horrendously rude black lady eho answered the file number, like the message said to do, and she hung up on me.
I called back, got someone different, gave tge file number and told them there was no such person here. He saud "ok" and hung up. I know he didn't make any note of it or look it up or anything.
But from here out, if there are any more calls, I'll be reporting them for harassment because they've been warned.

THey have been calling my work number, and this could cost me my job. What can I do to stop this?

Caller "ARG & Associates" saying their mediation department is going to send me documents about a hearing, and said a bunch of fake legal terminology over and over again saying, "this is your legal notice." They had a reference number at the end. Sadly the call hung up at the end so I couldn't talk to them and waste their time.

They called my ex-husband and father for some unknown debt in my name.  So, yes..... I have debt (that I am solidly paying on), but hard telling if this place is legit - no $ amount, no originating Debt name (like Penny's or Sears). NOTHING. Only a name I changed 10 years ago, AND the fact they're calling innocent bystanders. Debt I MAY have had using that old name are Midland Credit, CREDIT ONE NA, BARCLAY... so if this sounds like your baggage too, we can narrow it down and turn them in for illegal harassment

Yesterday it was ARG and Associates. Today you are saying it is Midland Credit.  I don't know who you will turn them into for "illegal harassment" as I know of no agency that has that as an option.  The easiest and best way to find out if they are "legit" is to simply make them follow the letter of the law, which is something that should be done every time you are contacted by a debt collector.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.  

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.  If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.

They left a message on my ex-mother-in-law's home phone stating it's regarding"out of court dismissal " .  I have no idea what that is, and Google didn't either.   What a scam.   How/where do we report this comany?

Thank you for an abundance of information.  However, ARG is a second/third party collection agency which uses cheap shots and illegal approaches. No, ARG does not own original debt so it's fair to call out the real debt holders who use this place, then look away.  They are guilty as well.

I 'say' the robocall came from ARG "Asset Recovery Group" but in this case the originating debt is probably Midland Credit - they were sent a letter to cease contact with ME, but now (through 3rd part ARG) are harassing relatives who have nothing do with a debt....that's my point … to enlighten anyone who reads this that Midland Credit may be a common connection.

Well then what happened to Barclays and Credit One Bank?  It looks to me like you are taking shots in the dark.  ARG might very well be a JDP.  However they are the ones breaking the collection laws and they are the ones you would be suing.  A C&D to Midland would not necessarily be binding on ARG as well.  Interesting that you came back after 3 days as well.

It’s a scam yes they do call from all in your range of residences and ny ca etc etc ... scam scam if u don’t owe anyone don’t worry ... they try to get you to pay off by gift cards green dot cards etc..

Harassing scam calls trying to get information and money.

Looking for a person--not me.  Head arbitrator, Philip Norman, re pending litigation.  The call serves as official notice.  Told to press a number, or call back at a number and use the reference number provided.

I applied for an auto refiance loan via CreditKarma.com. Once last year and  again this year. Within a week scam calls started pouring in to both me and my employer. The first time it happened, I didn't connect the two. This time I realized why. ARG Associates is a scammer who brought my info from credit karma. AG will request you call them at (888) 310-3585. They will leave a very alarming voicemail. Once you return their call they will demand money for  debts that are not real. They will even tell you your full ssn over the phone! AG Associates claimed I took out a payday loan and never paid it back. I HAVE NEVER HAD A PAYDAY LOAN. If you refuse, they will threaten to take you to court or send people to your house. One "agent" got so upset, he started cursing and called me out of my name. Credit Karma is selling your information to fake companies. Please be careful when applying for credit via their site. Also - DO NOT GIVE ARG ASSOCIATES A DIME! Report them to FTC and share your expereince online so that others do not fall victim. They will harass you and continue to call you, your employer,  and family! Do not fall for the scam. Nothing they will tell you is real. They will not take you to court. They are a FAKE COMPANY that preys on unsuspecting.

They called my previous work place . My coworkers knows it’s a scam . How ever, it ‘s disturbing that such scammers have this info. It’s a harassment ! Real ones will register a letter to you and have you sign !

They are Atlantic Recovery Group.. But they won’t answer!

voice mails left 7/8/19 and 7/18. Phillip Norman from ARG & Associates calling about a pending motion about to be filed on incorrect first name, correct last name, in the county court. They keep calling, with the recorded message being for my sister who has never lived with me. It's bogus for sure. I finally called them back and said "Please remove my phone number, as you have the wrong number," and she asked for my number and said it will be removed (she asked no other questions - oh yeah seems TOTALLY legit...not!). I ended the call with "and quit scamming people!"
