"No Info until you give bank info"?  That is how you know this is a scam.
A PHONE CALL IS NOT LEGAL NOTICE OF A DEBT!!!

This is  a Debt Scammer. Ignore the call, and try blocking the number.  It is a mistake to call back, that just encourages the crooks to keep calling. The crooks are very good at sounding scary and making threats, but that is all they are, crooks with big mouths.

You are NOT in trouble. There is no court date, no papers and no debt. In case they "up" the threats and harassment, the cops are not on the way to your home or work place.

A Phone Call is NOT Legal Notice of a debt. Nor is a FAX or an email.  ARG has a long and ugly history on this and other sites.

I got a voicemail message from ARG and Associates about a pending motion for an out of court dismissal. They were calling about my sister-in-law. Just to test the waters, I called them back at 888-310-3585, and I said I was my sister-in-law. I am super gullible apparently,  because it sounded legit, because they gave me the last 4 of her social ( which I didn't really know)  and hung up as they were "pulling up more information". I called my sister-in-law and told her to call them back...she said she wasn't going to waste her time because she KNEW IT WAS A SCAM ALREADY! I had to go online and pull up the scam info about this phone number, and now I realize how incredibly stupid I am. Dum de dum dum!  My bad.

There calling me on my cell now they are calling my Job, if its a police matter everyone knows that they will be knocking at your door!!!!

Whether or not you have a legitimate financial issue from your past, from a very quick research of the company name and this phone number in particular, it is apparent that this is probably a scam.  These people have a small amount of real information about you, culled from whatever sources, and are attempting to either get additional information with which to pose a serious hazard to your finances or cajole you into forking over funds they don't deserve, or both.  Don't fall for it.  There are so many of these ridiculous scams out there you just have to start blocking the incoming numbers on your phone.  But be patient.  The one company probably has at least 200 phone numbers.  Yay!
Do go get a copy of your credit report and verify that you don't have any real outstanding issue pertaining to any current or past accounts you may have had.  Additionally, it may be worthwhile utilizing the services of a company such as LifeLock to help protect your identity.

You mean that people should sign up for that service at around $100 a month?  That would be the same service that couldn't help their owner and founder from having his own SS# from being used in identity theft?  The same outfit that has been sued multiple times for misleading people?

They've called and left a robocall type message a few times in the last couple days saying for me to get in touch with them before they file a motion with the court.  Ridiculously annoying.  I work in the legal field and have for almost 20 years and this is such a scam!

These scammers are now calling my sister's cell phone number which I have never given out to anyone!

They called my family members and said an arbitrator was going to file courts papers in my name. If I wanted to resolve it to call them. It's a scam I don't owe any money.

I took your suggestion to read about the "Consumer Rights and Protection Act", and like BigA was frustrated after a half hour of search engine trials. The phrase appears in hits from Indian and Pakistani sources, mainly in academic studies of the woeful lack of financial literacy among rural South Asians. If I stretch my thinking I imagine the "CRPA" to be some colloquial or erroneous reference to India's Consumer Protection Act. It could even be a vestigial working title which lingered after its December 1986 enactment. From my reading it looks like a simpler cousin of the FTC Act, affecting mainly trade practice between individuals. I guess culturally the Indian version operates in a long shadow of blaming the victim for deals gone wrong.

I would like to know what you have seen or heard which caused you to conflate American laws for debt collection with what I take to be a poorly promoted South Asian statute which does not even share the same category. Anything so misleading must be corralled and tagged with warnings for the unwary.
