    This company is using the name KPC Legal Service. But the phone number does not match up with the real company out of California. These people called my family members harassing them to get to me. I did not know how they got their numbers.  They told me its was because of the Patriot act they can access anything. They were harassing my family $500 payday loan I has a debt with, These people are relentless. Be careful. Don't talk to them about anything.

    Received two with in a week (23 & 29 Oct. 2014) from them, she gives her name as Garcia, from KPC Legal Services and the number as 2-888-315-3703.  I don't return any calls when they can't say who they wish to speak to or what the call is about.

    I also go a call on October 3 from the same number.  Typically I don't answer 1800 numbers so they left me a vmail saying they were calling from KPC legal services and to give them a call back.  They even provided me with an extension. I called back but didn't get connected with anyone.  Seemed strange that a legal office would be calling me so I googled them and found this page.

    Got a call from this number (888-315-3703) Michael Canody out of Colorado. I asked specifically if this was a debt collector and he stated no it is a law office. So later I called the number and it was answered KPC Legal Svcs and when the man said that, the phone hung up. I googled and got this page...
    Same question here....how do they get this number and not the person they are seeking?

    Lurkers:
    This is a long summary, but you need to read it carefully if you think you are being threatened by a debt collector.

    The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) includes statements such as this:

    * Every collector must send you a written “validation notice” telling you how much money you owe within five days after they first contact you. This notice also must include the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money, and how to proceed if you don’t think you owe the money.   ["Written" means snailmailed ... not emailed or texted]

    * Debt collectors may NOT
    - repeatedly use the phone to annoy someone.
    - falsely claim that they are attorneys or government representatives
    - falsely claim that you have committed a crime
    - falsely represent that they operate or work for a credit reporting company
    - say you will be arrested if you don’t pay your debt
    - say they’ll seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages unless they are permitted by law to take the action and intend to do so
    - communicate with consumers at their place of employment after being told this is unacceptable or prohibited by the employer.
    - say that legal action will be taken against you, if doing so would be illegal or if they don’t intend to take the action
    - use a false company name
    - take or threaten to take your property unless it can be done legally;

    The debt collector may not garnish your wages unless there is a court order to do so.
    + Many Federal benefits (including Social Security Benefits) are exempt from garnishment

    You have the right to sue a collector in a state or federal court within one year from the date the law was violated. If you win, the judge can require the collector to pay you for any damages you can prove you suffered because of the illegal collection practices, like lost wages and medical bills. The judge can require the debt collector to pay you up to $1,000,

    Report any problems you have with a debt collector to your state Attorney General’s office, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

    Just because it maybe a collection debt doesn't mean its a scam and most certainly doesn't mean you run away from your obligations.  Usually people who end up looking for a website to slander companies are usually the people who are stealing money from creditors and hiding.  Its quite despicable.

    3 People in my family do debt collections and I was appalled when I read the slanderous posts .. I admit I was nervous before I called there office but rest assure Its wasn't a scam.  Good Day folks.  Be well

    Andy -

    NONE of the regular / helpful posters on this site advocate nonpayment of legal debt.
    We do, however, want to assure debtors that their creditors are following the law.
    My long, previous post is an attempt to educate debtors in FDCPA laws concerning debt.

    Short answer:
    NOBODY should pay a supposed collector money, just because they got a phone call.
    EVERY debtor should check to see if the collector is the legal debt holder, and is legally authorized to collect the debt.

    Your repeated posts claiming all complainants are "stealing money from creditors" are quite suspicious ... particularly since several posters claim they do not have any debts!

    Now, a question for you:
    There are several website names similar to "KPC Legal Services".
    What is the full name, physical address, and website address of the company you are defending (or, should I say "shilling")?
