American Express Charge Verification

This is a scam number and NOT American Express.  Only call the American Express number on the back of your credit card.  Remember, this is a SCAM number.

Not a scam number.  After my wife received a call for me asking to call back this number, instead I called the number on the back of my card.  There was a fraudulent charge on my card.

The previous post is probably one of the scammers.

Total scam..... just play it safe and call the number on the back of your card. When I called them, i purposly said I didnt have my card number. they then started asking me what the square footage of my house was????

I work for American Express and this is NOT a scam number.  Calling the number on the back of your card will route you to the same group.

I just called american express's service phone number. They told me 888-317-2720 is their number.

It isn't a scam.  Call the number on the back of your card to verify.  I did and it was legit.  AMEX Fraud prevention department.

The number is legit, but I called the number on the back of my card.  If you can call the number on the back of your card you get to the same fraud prevention group anyway.

I am recieving phone calls on my cell and home phone daily at least 8 times a day from this phone number and other numbers from the same company.  I missed 1 payment and the month is not even done.

Funny how a bunch of posters here say the number is legit.  I get phone calls from at least TWELVE (by my last count) different numbers that are associated with "American Express" via this website and others like it.  Posters - I have NEVER had an AmEx card.  I have only had Visa and MC and they were only debit not credit cards.

Also have regular access to my credit report so I know its not a case of stolen identity.

Calling me about improving my interest rate and/or fraudulent charges on a card I don't and have never owned... SUPER LEGIT.

Why are people saying its a legit #? Its a SCAM. AMEX will email you. Call the back of your card.

Amex collections

I've received multiple calls from this number over the past several weeks. They never leave a message. More importantly, I do not have, and have not ever had, an AmEx card. If it's a legitimate call from American Express, as some of you claim, why would they be calling me and not leaving a message? Scammers for sure!

I received a call from this number and didn't answer it. I looked up the number here and saw the mixed reviews. Since I had used my Amex card several times recently, I checked my account online, saw there were several pending charges that might be in question, and called Amex using the number on the back of my card. I also asked the representative who reviewed my account to check the phone number of this post. He confirmed it is one of their numbers, but also recommended doing what I did - call Amex only using the number printed on the back of their card. It's too easy to spoof a legitimate number, and Amex would rather have you call them directly.
