Company going by the name of "United", "United Firm", "United Mediation"  or "United Resources" (the name changes depending on who you talk to. They started by calling my payroll department to verify employment and asked to speak to my supervisor. He was trying to transfer the call to me but the woman insisted on leaving a message with him to give to me. I called back and asked if they were licensed in my state, as my state law requires collection agencies to be licensed.  She said that they are a "pre-litigation" firm and that they are "just trying to help me".  This morning they called my mother in law and when I called them to tell them to stop the woman denied calling saying that they don't call people they have "locators" serve people with documents and that if I didn't want to resolve this matter then that was fine and their locator would serve me papers.  I told her that I have reported them to my state Attorney General's office, the FTC and the FBI, as I was advised to do by my attorney general's office.  This company gets people's information from old payday loans and sometimes even from a payday loan application.  This is not a legitimate agency DO NOT be intimidated by these people or give them money.  I'm listing this call type as "prank call" since there is no option for "scam".

My mnanager at work called me and said that some lady named Michelle from "united" called and asked when i work and that she was "hired" to deliver a package/documents to me.I never recieved a phone call on my personal phone or anything and I find it a little odd that she only tried to contact me through my work.It doesnt seem very legit to me and i am very upset about this situation.

i too was intimated i was in BIG trouble but would not say for what.

This same company "United" called my 80 year old father and my sister, telling them that they would take court. I called the number provided and they  would not give me any information regarding my so called "debt", I eventually asked them to serve me with any papers, but that in the meantime this "locator" they have such stop calling my father and sister.  They are here to intimate you and make you scared.  If you ask them to have the paper's serve to your address, believe these annoying phone calls will stop.

this person rick lopez call my phone ask for my son said he from united firm that i need to tell him he been serve thru me to contact him if  he didnt want trouble as i start to ask questions he hung up in my face tried calling the number he call from which was a 205  number like he here but number stayed busy each time  i called jerk glad to know this a scam thanks.

I received a call from a 707 area code number first, it was some lady yelling threats about charges and claims.. She told me to call (888)321-9241, so I did.. They brought up some old payday loan I had taken out a while back but said I never paid it.. They read back my date of birth, full name, address, SS# and the full details of the payday loan date, amount, and my bank information.. I truly thought that this was real given that they had all that info.. Well, I set up a payment plan because they made it sound like I was about to be arrested and I figured I would pay again and it would be simpler than hiring my lawyer and paying court fees.. As soon as I finished giving them my debit card number we ended the call.. It felt real strange and unlike any other official call I've had for a past due debt, so I looked up the number and bam,.. Scam!  I quickly canceled my card before any charges were drawn from my bank thank god.  Do not pay them.. I called them back 3 times asking for their business address, license numbers, anything,,, they only told me which state they were in,... But they had a hard time figuring that out because it went from Texas to Arizona to California in the three calls.. I'm sure they're calling from India or something, with a fake number that's not traceable.. Just watch out, they could really clean u out.
