They pretended to be from Windows and wanted access to my computer I didn’t gave then access and are reporting just in case my computer is OK and I have PC matic protection

Pretended to be Microsoft and told me that my computer and my home network was comprised by Trogen hackers. Warning on CPU gave this number.

Clicked on an advertising link to  Amazon and computer locked up said call this phone number.  I powered off my computer restarted and did a security scan.  Appears to be a scam

Clicked on an advertising link to  Amazon and computer locked up said call this phone number. I was stupid enough to give them access and the guy showed me all kinds of bogus stuff to try to prove I had been hacked.  He offered to have his tech team fix the problem if I bought a virus protector from them.  I told him I have to ask my boss for permission and I'll call them back.  Instead I brought my laptop to the Geek Squad at Best Buy and they told me it was a scam.  Best Buy scanned my computer and said there was nothing wrong with it and the next time it happened to just shut it down to reboot.  Many expletives coming to mind right now, but I'll be quiet.

Did the Geek Squad tell you that they copied everything on that computer? Banking info, user names and passwords, contact lists, etc.?
