- Wasn't born yesterday| 21 repliesI got a call on my direct line at work from a man who identified himself as James Grim. He stated he was working on a project for Barstow High School and needed me to call him. I looked up the high school and it is located in CA (which i have found to be the central location for collections). It was a pretty clever way to try to get me to call back, but just b/c i am behind on my bill doesn't mean I'm an ignorant person. Good try though!

The school is always in your hometown, but ask them for the address & they falter. I called Butler High School to see if they are affiliated with this company & the answer is NO. A lot of voices in background, just another scam station!!! Watch out.

- cc| 5 repliesGot a call at work from this number; the person over the phone sounded like a young high school kid and said his name was Robert Mars. He said they are working on sports calendars featuring the local high school here and wanted to know if we'd like to place an ad in it. He evven said the amount of calendars (800), the size (20"x26") and the price of the most popular ad (business card size; $215). I thought it was strange, though, that he gave me an 888 number. Sounds like a scam to me.

- SamJoseph MacMillan said he was project director of Floydada High School and wanted a call back. Floydada high school does not have a project director named MacMillan. Warning to everyone who gets solicitation calls. Verify. If you think a phone number is suspicious, it probably is.

I was not going to do anything without seeing something in writing - from the get go - the scam alarm went off. Please be wise and avoid these people. Slimy unethical people!

- VicsimGot a call from Mike at Timber Creek Sports Posters. One of my workers took the call and Mike asked her to have me call him back at 888-357-9911. When I called back I got a loop recording that that wouldn't respond to any input. I'm glad I was able to check that number on this website. The number on the caller ID was 208-376-5080.

- DbH2QThese calls always go to VM first so I can check the source phone number. They say they are "working with the school" but you should call the local AD to confirm before returning the call. They are relentless. It's easier for us to send a donation directly to the school than to deal with these people, however, in one case, the school did engage these folks. Too bad.

- abcdecalled a us government office and left a message as Roger, project manager with the Morristown Central School and to call at 888-357-9911. Similar to the name of another office, so I called back and got an automated answer that it was for some publishing company. We are on a do not call list, and we cannot take solicitations becasue of being a governmnet office.

- M. Klotz| 1 replygot a call at my business in MD wanting $250 for my support of Francis Scott Key High School (but only $215 if I got on board right away). That gets your business name on a poster "all over town". There is no FSK HS in my county, which I pointed out while searching the local phone book to confirm it. I asked if this was a third party fundraiser (yes) and where they were located (Idaho) and what the company name is (All American Publishing). Then I said, so you are really selling posters in the guise of fundraising for schools- and the woman said, well, yes. The 888-357-9911 number was given when I asked for it. The whole thing sounded lame at least and likely bogus- certainly suspect. When I called the state police they told me there is an FSK HS in the next county over. I talked to the school's principal, who said they are not involved with fundraising that deals with posters, and he took the info. Also called my local bd. of ed, since the calls were vague and most people would not probably check to confirm that the school named is in fact a local school. They also took all the info. Then called the state police back, who sent me to the county sheriff (their jurisdiction). Got the impression that nothing would be done if I didn't insist (so I insisted that they at least make a record of it so the dots could be connected if they get additional similar calls). The crime, if there is one, would be in Idaho- considering calling the Idaho police to report and compare notes.
