A woman called me from this number and said she was from BMO, but the way she was talking sounded super automated.
I kept trying to answer her questions and she would just go “mhm mhm yes I understand “ overtop of me while I attempted to answer.
Finally I outright asked if this was a robot/scam and the woman apologized and said no and that she reads from a script. Anyways, we weren’t interested and she politely hung up finally, so I assume being from BMO was legitimate however their professional social skills were awful. Will block their number.

I've been getting calls from them daily and it appears as spam/possible fraud on my phone. It was a BMO representative who knew I had a pre approval credit card offer. Their tone seemed oddly AI-ish but they may have just been following a script. I politley declined and blocked the number.

Telemarketing firm Canada Direct calling on behalf of BMO.  Trying to pitch their MasterCard credit cards.

Phone often twice a day . I have it blocked but calls keep coming.

When you call back it identifies the marketing company name on behalf of BMO and then you are transferred to robotic operator "Sara Williams."

This company is not hired by BMO. It’s a total scam. If you can block your number (*67 with land line) call the number back. If it asks you to please enter the number THEY called you from (weird) enter 111-111-1111.  It’s not a person speaking but it’s a bot. Say anything you like (I said terrible things). It’s a total scam and  they want your personal information.

Since this is an 888 Area Code number, it is a Toll-Free number and *67 does not block your phone information when calling Toll-Free numbers.  Since they are paying any long distance charges that may be incurred, they get the information of who called them straight from the phone company.

Capital Direct on behalf of Bank of Montreal to follow up on credit card offer (or some other BMO offer just depending on what they are offering at the time). Just pick up and ask to be put on the do-not-call list and ask your number to be removed.  (Canada, BC 08/14/2024)

They knew my first name.  Said they were Canada Direct calling for Bank of Montreal.  I blocked them 6 months ago, but know they switched to this new number 888-361-6815 and got thru today. I will block this number now.  They will probably switch to a new number in the future to bypass any call blocks.

Update - the following day they called again (same phone number 888-361-6815).  I'm glad that I call blocked this number yesterday.

Yes, they do. Still wouldn't entertain the call tho.

Same experience - claiming to be from Canada Direct on behalf of BMO, asking if I had reviewed the offer they sent me (needless to say I had not received any offer). She then started spouting all the offers and I tried to interrupt numerous times. She finally took a breath and I advised her I already have a BMO credit card. 'Oh, our records must not have been updated to reflect you accepted one of our offers'. Definitely a scam.  I've had my BMO card close ton20 years. Possibly AI or scripted... when she asked 'how are you today' and I said 'sick as a dog', her reply was 'that's great!'. They've been calling for days, and it comes up as BMO, so I finally answered. I won't be answering again.

Keeps calling but since I don't know who it is, I let it go voice mail but they never leave a message. Very annoying. You would think they would get the hint. If I don't answer, I am not interested.

Telemarketer , better to not answer
