This is a scam. They get private information somehow and attempt to get money from you. When you call and fact check they suddenly no longer have your information. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY MONEY! When I asked them the company they were representing they refused to tell. When I asked the name of their company they hung up!

They called about a debit from Discover. They said I owed more than $13,000.00 for an unpaid credit card. Funny thing is when I asked for more information about the debit the woman became very rude and said if I didn't pay the balance I was going to be taken to court...then she hung up. I tried calling back several time only to be hung up on or placed on hold for 15-20 mins at a time. The company is for Carmichael Hughes and Associates out of NY. They are not registered with BBB and they have a warning for fraud against them. DO NOT verify any personal information including the last four of your SSN. This is a scam! If you do choose to call them back, record the call...get as much information from them as possible (i.e. how they obtained information about you, who they are collecting the debit on behalf of, etc.). Then file a complaint with the BBB and the Attorney General's office of your state.
Whatever you do, do not give them ANY information or confirm any information. Once again, this is a scam...the new law went into effect after Dodd Frank and they can no longer collect on these debits. Make sure to check your credit reports often and inform them that you will file a dispute if anything should show up.
Once again, record all communications and save all voicemails. This is a illegal debit collection agency.

Received a voicemail from Wade Jordan stating he was a legal courier and was going to deliver documents pertaining to a criminal matter to my home or place of employment.  If I was not there to sign he would be forced to surrender the documents back to the county as a direct refusal to sign, please note this will result in a missed court appearance.  He then states if I would like information or to stop this I could call the plaintiffs office at the number above.  At the very end of the voicemail he says my name and says I have been officially notified.

This all sounded as if he was reading from a generic script. Do people really fall for these things?

I received a call from an unavailable number on my cell which I didn't answer.  The voicemail message was from an Amarra Jones, using my first and last and and left the (888) 372-0046 number to call them back regarding the “criminal matter”.  She spoke very fast and it was difficult to understand what she was saying; however, key words/phrases were much clearer than others (the more “threatening/scary” words it seemed).  The message was pretty much identical to Anonymous08-05 above of with the exception she gave a case number and a due date to call them back.

Yeah, not calling them.  If this were real they wouldn’t call but just show up with the summons and/or subpoena.

Said I was named a primary party in a very serious matter in their office and I had 24 hours to contact them to give a final statement.  Some dispute resolution company but first part of name was mumbled so couldn't understand.  Imo, tried to sound legal/law enforcement related.

I received this exact message. I waited. No one served me at my work or home. My case number....started AB123...really??? I found this comical. My county said they knew nothing of any case or filing. Scam.

I got a call in regards to paperwork I was scheduled to receive. I called they imformed me of a debt i had lost track of. I paid it off and they got me a paid in full letter an hour later. Now that im reading this I should probably send it in to the credit bureaus myself to make sure it gets done. They were very professional though.

Received call from this number Rebecca Johnson claimed that they were a legal courier for Bexar county and that they wanted to know if I was going to be home Wednesday to be served documents.  I asked why her number was coming up with  an 888 rather than the local area code if they were from Bexar county she was just silent.  after a few seconds she asked me if I wanted the case number and phone  number to call and get the information.  I said no the document that I get served should have all the information I need.  She kept asking me about writing down the numbers I finally said yes and she gave me Case #416525 Phone 1-888-372-0046 and then hung up.

I worked for Attorneys and know how to look up information through the Bexar County system.  Before I can be served a law suit has to be filed, There are no records of any law suits against me.  Also all county cases in Bexar County start with "CA" before the number.

This is a scam do not fall for it.

I received the exact same message at 12:10 this afternoon on both my house phone and cell phone. My advice is not to call this number back in reference to anything. If it is a collection agency I have once read that no matter how old the debt any contact from you revives that debt and it can be reported on your credit. My credit is in good standing and has been for more than 15 yrs so any debts owed has to be from long ago.

Yup, got the call and when I called asking for info on who they were, they were so rude! I then called back and they placed me on hold to be rude and hung up. I called again recording the conversation this time. I also asked for their "State Bar #" of their attorney there who they kepy threatening me with. Wouldn't give it to me, said its private. Uh, nope it's open info of attornys calbar.org . Total scam. What pisses me off is the info they do have.

At 9:53 on 8-19-15 I received the same phone call from Amara Jones stating she was a legal courier attempting to reach me for a legal matter. She had a somewhat threatening tone, and said she would visit my place of employment and my home in an attempt to get my signature. If I was unable to be reached she would be forced to turn the legal documents over to the county (but never said which county) for further court proceedings. She inferred I would forfeit all my rights and any court proceedings to follow would go on in my absence. It was a very convincing phone call.

I talked to a Matthew Anceloi. He said I owed $2500.00 om a visa card ( don't ever remember getting) either pay now or you will be summed to court on Aug. 21, 2015. I got an e-mail from him saying I will pay $ 651.27. called my bank. they said it was a scam.

Got a call they wanted money from a dept from 15 years ago

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

I received a threatening phone call from UNKNOWN- i was told to call this number from an Andrew Jones at 888-372-0046 today. They said that there was a summons against me, and if i don't call back then they will drop it off at the County Clerks. Since I have worked for a debt company before, I know that this is quite illegal to threaten and claim prosecution. They are threatening me. In addition, you cannot turn in a document saying that I refused to sign anything. Let's see if they show up at place of work and home! They will surely get cussed out, and I will call the police.
