They say they support breast cancer thru political ads for politicians.

If You want to support politicians you can do it directly via voting, or send the politician a hand written letter.  That tends to get more notice, unless you have the really big bucks.

They said that they supported autistic and special needs children. When they asked me for my name I told them that I do not give out any information over the phone due to fraud. They ended the call at that point!

I agree with you to never disclose personal information to a voice on the phone ..... scammers spoof numbers in order to trick caller id ..... earlier I received a random call from a person claiming to be from my insurance company ..... to make a long story short ..... I snapped on that person for waking me up ... I work nights and the real insurance company has a do not call on my insurance profile
