- James| 1 replyThe caller left a voice mail. The voice was heavily accented (perhaps from India but it was difficult to tell) and said he was Gary Diaz from the Tax Audit Division of the IRS. He informed me that there was a financial claim against me and that I should call him back before the case went to Federal Court or I was arrested. I've heard of scams like this before and I can't imagine a law enforcement officer threatening me with arrest if I didn't call him back. Also, if this were a legitimate call from the IRS, the phone number would more closely match one associated with a federal agency and be easily looked up. Needless to say, I'm not returning the phone call.

I contacted the IRS and they said they never threaten people with jail over the phone I asked him to send me something in writing and he refused . Then he asked for MY address ! The IRS would have my address !!! WTF then I went off . I asked for his IRS ID/Agent # and he wouldn't even speak . How ridiculous !!!
- DebbieReceived the same exact harassing phone call. Received a second phone message the next day. Have your phone carrier block the phone number and file a complaint. Your phone carrier will take the complaint over the phone. They also recommend filing a separate complaint with the FTC and FCC.

- Sick and Tired of ScamsYes, this guy is a nut-ball. You could hear several people in the background while he was taking, Indian accent. Really, 888-393-2449, wouldn't know how to scam a peanut butter and jelly sandwich out of a paper bag. This guy was rude. And if he does this to the elderly, it is going to scare them so badly that they will give them anything to get him to stop. It's just scarey to have witnessed this guy talking to someone who knows how to handle such scams. But for those who do not know how to handle such a call, just hang up. If the caller does not have a case number, then it's a definite scam. Just ask for the case number, which he or she will not have. Then you have the little sucker, scammer that he is. Do not give out your SSN, approve of the address he states, or any other info that may identify you. Please, Please, do not be afraid of these guys. IRS and any other federal agency will contact you by mail first if there is an issue and that will have a case number on it. In the end, do not argue with this kind of person, they are sick in the head and will just continue to be rude to you so that you become fearful and give them what they want. DO NOT BE AFRAID!

- Nice Try| 1 replyCaller asked for me and said his name was Edward Brown from IRS Audits Department. I laughed at him and he got a little irritated and asked why I thought that was funny. After I hung up he called back and left a message saying I needed to call back immediately and said something about being arrested and going to federal court (message was a little unclear). I did not call the scammer back. The IRS website (real IRS) has a warning about these kinds of scams and emphasizes that the IRS will never call anyone out of the blue like this. You can also file a complaint about the caller through the IRS website.

- KhadijaMy family has been getting calls from a number in Vermont and my sister answered the call. The guy said his name was Edward Brown which didn't make sense because I've never meet a man with a heavy Indian accent with the name Edward Brown. He got access to my laptop remotely and put a password on it. Now i can't get access to anything on my laptop.
