    Just Me
They told me there was a complaint against me filed with their office.  No name was ever given for a person or business to contact only a 1-888 number and when I called it they answered "answering service".  They called my whole family.  Sounds like a scam.

This is a scam!!! They called my whole family told them that the sheriff would pick me up if I did not apprear in court.  But if I pay a fine that the charges against me me would be dropped.
I had checked with my lawyer who did a search and found that I had no complaints against me.

    Tired of these calls
Received a call from an unknown caller who say they are looking for my daughter who has a complaint filed against her.  This number was given along with a file number to have her call them.  The caller left his name, but no business name was given for him.  It is illegal for these people to call third parties, but I guess if you don't know who is calling you can't file a complaint with the FCC to have them fined.  I am assuming this is a SCAM!

    fed up with it
A woman called "unknown". She left a message saying that there was a complaint against me filed with her office and that there will be legal action. She didn't say my name or her name or which office/company she is calling from. I guess they really want me to call them back, who knows why (probably to scam me), because the message she left is quite worrying. She gave the 888 phone number as a call back #.

I got the same thing.  A call from the same number from someone stating that if I knew a specific person to call them right away but he also stated that if I did not know them to call them back anyway to have my number removed.  Just another low-life sucking up oxygen.

Got a call stating a complaint has been filed against me and that if they don't hear back from me a decision will be made without my consent. No company name was given, but the person who called me and left the voicemail said his name is Mike Thompson. I called the # back and a lady answered saying: "Corporate answering service" I just hung up. This must be all crap.

I am constantly getting calls to my job and cell number in regards that I will be served and they want to the security at my job to serve me and if I don't respond then actions will be taken which will involve me going to jail to serve time and a hefty fine.  My job also told this individual they were fraudulent and per the attorney they are no longer allowed to call here and that they are a scam---she receives this phone call once week but with a different company name and number.  This time it's Nationwide Document Delivery Service and we have a name-Melissa Thomas and a 888 number as well.  Melissa however finally gave up and left a message for me stating i will receive a failed attempt next to my name and I need to drive to a different city to pick up this so called document their trying to serve me with.

Yesterday, I received a call from a young male stating that I had a summons to appear in court, and in a sealed legal document.  He had two former addresses.  He wouldn't give me any more information at that time, because it was a sealed legal document.  He wanted my current address so he could contact me.   I searched for his company in Dallas (and he wouldn't give me a number) and found lots of delivery services for court documents, but none by that specific name.  Today, he contacted me, again.  I refused to give him more information.  He said he represented a legal firm called CFG and gave me this number (888-394-9560).  I called the first time and got the previously mentioned 'answering service' that wanted my 'case number' to direct the call.  I refused to give my case number.  They connected me to someone named Julianna in the 'Legal Department'.  I told her that I researched their company by the phone number, and saw there were many scam complaints against them, and that my attorney saw no complaints filed against me.  I asked for their mailing address, and she gave it to me.  She said that once my attorney contacted her, I'd see that I do, indeed have a summons to appear in court, though she wouldn't tell me where.  I contacted the FTC, and they stated that the company needs to provide me with the nature of their company, who they represent, their professional license number, the amount of the debt and the date it was incurred.  I called the company again, and got Julianna in the legal department, once more.  I informed her I had contacted the FTC and intended to file a complaint.  I informed her that they stated her company needed to provide me the information noted.  When asked if CFG was a law firm, she denied that it was.  When asked if it was a debt collection agency, she began to stammer and stutter, and stated that her company never contacted me.  She claimed that they never contacted a Dallas Delivery Service and they don't know who I am.  She stated there was no actions against me, and not to bother them, anymore.  Needless to say, I was QUITE AMUSED!!!  So, I had to call back after she hung up, and this time gave the bogus case number I was issued by the Dallas Delivery Service (sic).  In this conversation, the 'answering service', directed me to the Jonathan Harper other complainants have mentioned in their posts.  He said they were not a legal firm.  I asked what type of company they were, and he said, 'an acquisiton' company.  I asked what that means, and he said to look it up.  When I asked if they had the authority to issue a summons, he denied they do, and stated he doesn't know what I'm talking about. When I asked what his professional license number is, he refused to give it to me, and told me to 'look it up', as well.  When asked why they contacted me, he denied that they had.  When asked if his company has a relationship with Dallas Delivery Service, he denied he had ever heard of them.  He chastised me for being rude to his employees, to which I responded I had been threatened by his company.  He denied I owed his company or any company he represents, a debt.  He claims to have never heard of me (although my case number directed me to him).  He told me not to contact his company, again.  I asked him if I would be receiving any calls from his company, or the Dallas Delivery Service, and he said his company won't contact me, again.  I never saw anyone try to wriggle out of something so much, and he lied with the ease of a sociopath.

My advice:  Contact the FTC and file and official complaint.  Without an official complaint to the FTC, they will continue doing what they do.  This site was great, because it let me know about the company.  But, the FTC has the teeth.  Also, contact the State of California Department of Justice @ http://oag.ca.gov/consumers/general/collection_agencies10.

844-258-5060 - Nationwide Document Delivery Services. Called me because my brother left my name and number as a "point of contact" and gave me a case number to refer to when calling back. Said if they did not hear from him within 24 hours they would be forced to take action against properties at **** Phillips Drive and **** Leonard Lane. A quick look at our county assessors website would confirm that neither of these properties are (nor were they ever) owned by my brother. I called the number back and spoke with a man calling himself Curtis Evans from TRS Services. I asked what this was in regards to and he said it was a "civil matter". I'm a paralegal (which he wasn't expecting) and so I started asking questions like the case number, what county, what judge the case was in front of. Had they attempted to complete service of process. The man just started screaming at me and hung up. So I called back. Got the same guy. Asked him if he was familiar with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and that if this was a legit debt he was breaking the law by contacting third parties. He started screaming again and I very calmly told him that my brother would sign a waiver and acceptance of service if he would fax me a copy of the summons and complaint. He just kept yelling and I hung up.  Please know your rights. you cannot be arrested for debt. Sure you can be sued, but there rules of civil procedure that companies and law firms MUST follow. Don't let anyone threaten you!

I receive calls from places like this about once a month or more. Always a different name but the same rhetoric. Today it was this one. The message I received was the same as always, that there is a pending legal matter against me, my address is ***, they have papers to serve, contact some law firm immediately, blah, blah, blah. When you call the number given, someone tries to tell you that you have to pay "x" amount of dollars to keep from going to jail in 24 hours. You would actually think that after calling these "people" (I use the term loosely) and telling them that you know that they are a scam outfit that they would give it up. I guess it's true that forever cockroach that is killed, 100 more are born. My advice is to stand up to these places and do not let them intimidate you! Let them know that are (and do it!) contacting the FTC regarding their so-called company. Let them know that you are contacting the local law enforcement agency and then DO it! I feel so bad for the elderly people out there that get taken advantage of when they fall this line of nonsense. If the callers would spend more time finding a real job rather than being a thief, their lives would actually have some fulfillment.

Received a call from a female stating that there was a complaint against me filed with her office and that there will be legal action. She didn't say my name or her name or which office/company she is calling from. Also stated that there would be three attempts to obtain my signature on some "important documents".  The number was blocked on my phone but she left a 888-206-7833 call back number.  I'm going to forward this to my state attorney's office.

I have gotten a couple of calls from Nationwide Document Svcs 1-888-732-3570 stating that the call today is my second of three attempts to reach me, they need a fax number, home or work address to deliver documents concerning a complaint against me. They left a number and case number, I called it today and they called me by my previous last name (am now married) and knew the last 4 of my ss# .. Proceeded to say that I owed money from an old CC acct that I hadn't had for many yrs. said that I owed over $1,600 and it's due to late fee's and intrest. If I did not agree to $135/monthly that they are gonna sue me and I would owe well over $3,000 in court costs. I offered them a $ amount and was instantly turned down.. She said "ma'am as long as you don't work, own a house and car and aren't married then you will ne fine, yet they also called my son and my husband, hmmmm .. I called the cc co and was told that acct was charged off a long time ago. Called that document co back and told them that, they stumbled around that and said it was reopened and that she spoke to the atty and he said $100 a month was the least they would accept. I hung up and called my atty, waiting for a call back!   Thank you all for your info, saved me!!

Don't pay them one red cent until you read this a follow through on the provided links.
This is a common ploy by criminals attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this,  all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.  One of the tricks they use is to call your work place repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying.  They also use the “process server” who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
