    Well, you had better report "them" and/or block them.  800Notes cannot take action for you.  It is a place to report phone scams and get info, but you will have to take action yourself.

    Woke up to a voicemail. The lady gave her name (Jennifer Houston) and ID number with Nationwide Document Delivery Service. She used my maiden name and told me she had sealed formal documents in her possession and a case number. She asked me to call back at 8667880712. I didn't try because I'm assuming it's the same scam everyone else has reported.

    Have called multiple times leaving messages for my sister, they do not know our relation and keep referencing her leaving me as a "point of contact". They claim a civil complaint has been filed against my sister and keep leaving a reference number. They have also left messages with my mother, thankfully we all know a scam when we hear one but others may not be so lucky.

    Left a message saying it was Michael Adams calling from Nationwide document delivery service and they needed immediate action from Linda (my mother) and that they were "contacting you in reference to a complaint that has been forwarded to the office and registered against you if you do wish to discuss the pending actions that are being filed you may contact the department in control of your file at phone number 877-430-2862 the file number that goes along with that is ******. keep in mind failure to respond within 24 hours may result in the department proceeding without your consent…” I haven't spoken to my mother in over a year and have no idea where she is (homeless last I heard, long story) So I call back and they told me they had my number because I'm part of the investigation bc I was the next closest kin. Indemanded to know what the charges of the complaint were and he said "the document is sealed." And he kept repeating to me that I needed to contact her and at that point I chewed his wha diff and said I don't have an address or phone for her, are you too dumb to understand me? Then I demanded to speak to his supervisor and he said "well I can have the agent in charge get back to you and remove your number" I then demanded the agents name and number and he said how well you contact him then? He stated by email and then said he would take care of it and hung up. My mother has had a ton of legal issues (hence the no longer speaking) so at first I wasn't surprised but when I came across this thread it was identical so I know that it's a complete scam. When I googled the company only scam reporting came up. Don't give them the time of day.

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
    Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

    Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
    Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
    Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

    Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

    They called me from an unknown number claiming to be calling from Nationwide Document Services and said they were trying to get in contact with someone to serve them official papers. When I asked who they were trying to reach, they gave my landlord's first name with my last name. I told them they were way off and explained the two names and then they said there seemed to be another last name in the mix, one of which there is no relation to myself or my landlord. When she continued to push to try to "confirm my address" that's when the red flag raised (if you are trying to serve papers, you should know the correct name and also know the address) and I hung up. It is a scam!!

    Guy named Timothy called our business office and asked for a "supervisor." Now, we get at least 3 calls a week from different business solicitors. Usually, I just referr them to our Boston office and hang up. However, when I asked how I could help, this clown (who sounded as though he was just past pimples) stated that he was from DDS. He asked specifically for a supervisor (not the supposed staff person they SHOULD have attempted to contact directly) and stated that there had been a complaint filed against an employee. We are a nation-wide non-profit that works teens. In Massachusetts, the acronym DDS stands for Department of Developmental Services- not an agency we typically connect with but for a second, my attention was piqued. As I questioned hom further, he clarified that he was with Nationwide Document Delivery Service. He again asked to speak not with the person to whom this call was regarding but wanted to leave contact info with me (pretty laughable attempt at skiptracing- also against Federal Fair Trade and. Collections law). Turns out, he was looking for our program coordinator😂.  When I asked him to clarify his statement that "a complaint had been filed against her," he did a walk back and suggested it may have been "failed attempts." 😆 I rolled my eyes and indicated that I'd deliver the info. Then we called the given number back. They claimed to be the answering service for the building. When I asked why I couldn't be transferred to the business directly without the "account number" he argued that it doesn't work like that in the building- then got frustrated and put me on hold. Next call a women answered. So I gave her the "case number" and adked for a physical address. She stated that different cases came from different offices and gave me some obscure address in CA. Nect call asked for the original caller Timmy and was connected to another ding-dong, last name (or alias) Lowe. He was so unprofessional I had to counter-abuse until he hung up on me. So listen- these morons are bill collectors who apparently haven't been hit with a fine from the FCC or an Attorney General yet. They dont appear to be worried about it and have no problem violating federal law (this is probably their only opportunity to work at a job where they are not required to opperate a fry vat- don't expect brilliance). Since they opperate unprofessionally, feel free to take the same liberties! No reason this can't be fun.

    They called from a private number stating I owed money on an old credit card ten years ago. I told them statute of limitations already expired. I was defrauded and debt is not mine. I have three police case numbers and attorney general said I can still sue the criminal who defrauded me.
