This is Evans law associates operating out of somewhere in new york. They specialize in debt collection and are pretty annoying but are amateurs at best.

I can also say that I had been getting calls from "unknown" at all hours of the day.  Then this number (949-954-8149) just left a machine message saying to call about a time sensitive message.  The callback number they left was 888-297-2796.  A quick search revealed this info:

in Buffalo, NY 14215-2045  The number listed for him is 716-362-3195

These people are unprofessional jokers.

I am on the do not call list and they keep calling.  I lost my job and my husband is a senior citizen.  What do I do?

These people have the fake number caller id, that will show up from a local area code when they call. So you are more likely to pick up, thinking it's not a slime debit collector.   Make no mistake that is exactly what these people are.   Someone managed to take out a payday loan with my stolen info.   The original company that did it was not help and held me liable, then they sold off my "debt" to another company , then it was sold off again and again.  This is the 3rd company to call me for the same debt.  Yea they are not a law office, they cannot "FILE" against me and I just block the number and get on with my life.

Calling from West Sacramento, CA from 916-277-8741.  The recorded message says to call Julie at 888-397-2796.  They're trying to find out if I can verify a person and location.  Never dealt with them before.

The DNC list does not apply to debt collection.  The best thing you can do (if it's an amount you can't pay) is never answer the phone.

Your other option is sending them a formal letter asking that all correspondence is via mail only.

There are plenty of laws that apply to them.

I get freaking call from 888--397-2796 everyday.

2-3 calls a day coming from 1-888-397-2796. Then they try to be slick and call from 904 425-1885. This is crazy as the calls won't stop! I've told them they have the wrong number and to quit calling but they don't care and still call back.

These scumbags are calling someone else with a similar last name (and completely different first name) than mine.     Their web site looks professional, but it is obviously a fake  (address in San Francisco, registered up-state New York).    I let them listen to music when they call (or sometimes, the TV so they can also get nice ads)

Some slime ball who says she is Diana Francisco calls under a local area code and number and says she wants to verify the address for someone I don't know anything about so "they" can send the "required notice." Then she leaves 888-397-2796 as a callback number.  The information they want can only be obtained from Helen Huntes or Helen Waites, so hopefully Diana goes to Helen Huntes or goes to Helen Waites, or both.

This caller called and I did not answer as I did not know the number but it was local she asked to have my address verified to send me an important notice.
