Discovered a text message when I woke up today.  I'm pretty sure it's purpose was to commit fraud.

The text said "ApplicationCenter / This is an automated message from TRANSWEST C.U. Your ATM card has been suspended. To reactivate call urgent at 888-400-2916."

I've never heard of Transwest C.U. and it makes no sense for a financial institution to send a text message about an ATM card.  If it were an issue, the local bank that issued my card would have called me directly.

I got this text message towards the end of February in 2009.  My phone said the text was sent from phone number "5000"

Got the same message this morning. The BBB indicated that TransWest Credit Union was used for phishing e-mails in the past. My guess is that since the culprit was outed on the e-mail market, they have now turned to text messaging. It looks like they are targeting T-Mobile customers. Probably got a hold of a customer phone list somehow. Transwest is a legitimate company, but they are not the ones sending this text.

I got the exact same message, and I just had a new ATM issued.... but the problem is, my bank doesn't have my cell number!

    So it is soooo bogus.
