- Duff replies to PucI received the same exact call. I called them from a different number and Jessica andwered the line I asked her what company I was calling and she stated its BBM when I asked her what does BBM stand for she sad the name real fast (but ended in litigation) and immediately asked if i had a reference number. I was not about to give her any info so i hung up. Upon a google search of BBM litigations I came up with a company based out of South Africa. Just be aware...
- Duff| 3 repliesOne last thing I remeber is they left a voicemail for me but upon doing so they stated that their mesaage was for and my first name and then they gave a last name that I havent had for close to 20 years. - BigA replies to Duff| 2 repliesLooks like a new criminal enterprise pretending to be debt collectors. Lots of complaints over here as well:https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-855-415-4508
I doubt they are the outfit in South Africa. Most likely located here in the US somewhere.
It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

- Hill5| 1 replyAn older gentlemen left a message stating they have tried to reach us twice in the last 65 days (which is false), proceeded to say he was going to drive over 2 hours to have a family member sign for a legal lawsuit. First of all, would they not try certified mail? or even a sheriff deputy to sign court documents. Last I checked we have above average credit and no pending lawsuits. Said his name (maybe Vanwalker) and business so fast and muffled could not understand.
- Caller: Vanwalker ?
- BigA replies to Hill5Process servers do not call ahead, especially if they have to "drive over 2 hours" to serve you. You would simply not be there and the trip would be wasted. Having a "family member" sign is also circumspect since the service should be to the party that is being sued (court rules vary) and since you generally don't actually have to sign anything. Courts are very specific in how papers must be served, but the simple answer is to call your local courthouse and ask them if there are actually any lawsuits against you. They will most likely tell you no and that this is a scam. It is well known around here as the "process server" scam, trying to scare you into calling a number and paying them money to "stop the service". Please take the time to read my other post.
