Elderly victim had received a letter with this phone number claiming that they had won a prize of $650,000. They called the phone number. Then they were called back and were tricked into providing their banking information. The fraudsters then accessed the couple's banking and transferred money from one account into another. The couple had been told that money would be put into their chequing account to cover the cost of insurance for the man that was bringing their big prize cheque. When the money was put in their account, they were told to transfer it to a third party. When the money arrived in their account, they transferred it as they had been told, not realizing that it was their own money that had been deposited into their chequing account. The third party account where the money was transferred to is also a victim. This is how the fraudsters launder the funds.
