who this phone number belongs to ?

Got a message from 1-888-433-7884 supposedly office of Brett Liner? saying I or my lawyer needs to call back immediately and not to disregard this call. If I do not call back the legal situation against me will unfold...

It's a scam. Do not give then any personal information. Call CRA and let them know. Or call the police.

Can I just ignore it and not report anything? it's from the states I wouldn't be too worried, I just got this call 15 mins ago as well

Brett is a sorry and rather pathetic human being, who wants to fraudulently separate you from your hard earned money.. I deal with the Canada Revenue Agency all the time .  They do not carry on business this way.  If they want your attention, you will receive mail from them referencing to your social insurance number and your previously filed tax return and they will describe to you in detail the tax issue at hand. The phone number that they will give you to reply to them is 1-800-959-8281, the standard government phone number for personal tax issues.  You can verify that number on the Canada Revenue Agency website, if you have any doubt.

Just block the the Brett Liner phone number on your phone and delete the message. If you get a similar phone call from any other idiot, just block and delete!

Got a call from this number too, called and quickly hung up to go straight to voicemail, I really wanna call back and [***] with the guy haha

Just  got the call.  Deleted the message and blocked the number.

From : 8884337884, Aug 10, 2016, 03:35:35 PM, 47 sec.

"Hello. This call is from a tax investigation department of CRA Canada Revenue Agency. The issue at hand is extremely time sensitive. The very second you receive this message. I need either you or your retain attorney of record to return the call. This is officer Brad Liner. And our toll free number 1-888-433-7884. I repeat it's 1-888-433-7884. bill-provide(?) disregard this message and do return the call. If you don't return the call or I don't hear ..."

You get the idea. Interesting when I called it was someone else, an Indian man with a name and employee ID that were rattled off too quickly to hear. Before he could ask me any information my phone cut out and I lost service. I tried calling back saying I had just called but the line disconnected without giving me any response.

I called the CRA and got the same info about checking my account online etc. Interesting when I googled the number it came up as also serving an IT company that (to me at least) looks kinda sketchy as well. http://www.cognetz.com/

Same thing here, left a message, talking about lawyers and whatnot. I knew it was bogus because he called my work phone and didn't mention my name or what it was even about, what a dumbass....

I just a got the same phone a few minutes ago on my cell phone.  I didn't answer the call but listened to the message and it was from someone called Brett Liner saying he is from Revenue Canada.  I know this is a fraudulent thing that is taking place.  I will not respond to this.  They have called my house as well.  Just ignore them and report it if you wan to.

Same as above, East-Indan in a very threatening tone @ 1:09pm today. Scared the B-jeebies out of me. *tears* No sense reporting as there is NOTHING that can be done to stop these creeps and they know it and will laugh right in your ear Only option is to delete the message and ignore it. So sick of it though. Wish they could be physically tracked down, grabbed by the scruff and 'dealt' with.

I am so thankful I googled this number and found all these posts!  Thank you so much! I just got the exact same voicemail and it freaked me out.  My gut instinct was that it was a scam but now I know for sure. How do I report this loser?
